Free filesharing web sites?

Any legit tried and true websites where you can upload a file so others can download it ala photobucket but with any file? I realize I could search and probably find a hundred but I'm wondering if somebody can link me to one that they use regularly and can vouch for. Thanks.

Uhm, it's not made for filesharing, but it does feature it: Dropbox. It also does syncing for multiple PCs/macs/linux, and has lots of space, for free.

https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTQxMDYzOQ if you want to get me (and you!) extra free referral space when you sign up for it :P

Cool. I can send others a link to dl files without them having the software?

Yep. Just put whatever files you want to share in the Public folder, then right click on the file, go to Dropbox, and click copy public URL. You can share it to those without Dropbox, hotlink to it, etc.

There's also a photos section, which you can share publicly too. Make a folder, and that is your "album". Right click the "album" and you'll find a public URL to view that album as well using an online simple browsing page.

Not for images. Ask mb how much I rage on io about how it handles images. :colbert:

Dropbox for sure. I looooooooove drop box. Basically eliminated the need of a USB stick for me (the only thing I use them for is for bringing documents with me to print at the library). Also I've found it great to share folders with my friends so we can drop in guitar jams or bass jams that we record. Everyday I just check my dropbox and see if something new is in there!
