So my family and I started BSG today by watching the mini-series.
Holy **** was it powerful, the scene where they first close in on the station was incredible, and the twist at the end had me **** a brick.
Looking forward to this.

It's people like Tibby that make me pissed off I was so anxious during those 1-year breaks in between seasons. Have fun, it's a great series.

Seasons 1 and 2 are the best. The beginning of season 3 is amazing, then it goes slightly downhill, and the fourth season wraps things up, even though it's a bit drawn out (still frakking awesome/amazing).

It's one of the best achievements in television. Nothing like it. It's also one of the few shows to have such great closure, and wrap up pretty much every single loose end in the end.

Tibby doesn't know one single fact about bears.

I just finished watching season 4 of "Battlestar Galactica" last night (I still have to watch "The Plan" which is coming to me next). I would have say it's one of the best science fiction shows out there. The "Caprica" series also starting to take shape. The only other shows that I watch are "Heroes" & "Lost".

BSG was great, right up until the last 15 minutes - at which point they ruined everything.

I must admit that I was hoping that Apollo & Starbuck were going to live happily ever after together . I would've enjoyed seeing more Gaius Baltar good deeds as well .

Season 4 gets a little bizarre.

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Series 3 dragged a little but you still enjoy it, because a bad episode of BSG is still better than most poop on television. Have fun! You have the luxury of not biting your nails waiting for the next episode to come out, you lucky git! :)

Did anybody remember when the part played by Starbuck was a dude in the oldschhool BSG (the Guy from A-team)? :psylon::psylon::psylon:

Make sure you update this thread regularly. As a huge BSG fan, I'd love to read what you think of the series as you go along.

Save yourself the money and wait for it to show up on the SyFy channel again. Honestly, I thought it was crap.

That's one thing I noticed about being older now is that I am rarely anxious for these type of things. TV series I really like, such as 24 or bsg, I usually just wait for the DVD release so I can watch them all at once. I made some exceptions with bSg and with the current season of 24 though.

I know a guy that complained about how they ruined everything in season 4 and then thought the end was great.

I have only seen a few of the new BSG on Sci Fi when it started its premiere a few years ago and I discovered that Starbuck if Im not mistaken is a kind of a super tough but kind of an attractive mechanic tom-boy, a woman. The Old BSG, right around 1978 when it was released on tv, starbuck was a guy, Apollo's good buddy and wingman. he was also a character on the A-team back in the day. I like the looks of the new Starbuck better.

Old Starbuck is on the show.
2010-02-20, 5:51 PM #23
Wow I didn't know that, did he make a cameo appearance or a full time character part. I really thought that he was the only good actor in the old series. Comes to show you how old I am, but I was only in Jr. High when that was aired.

No, he's not in it. Richard Hatch, who played Apollo in the original series, is a major character (Tom Zarek) in the new BSG. Dirk Benedict isn't in it.
2010-02-20, 6:33 PM #25
Thank you, Dirk Benedict, that was the name I was looking for (I could just google it) so it was Richard Hatch (Apollo) that was in the new series, I love Cameo appearances.

Apollo and Starbuck slept with each other in both series so there is some continuity.

I got most of the series for Christmas, and I'm slowly getting through it all. just starting season 3. season 2 finale blew my mind.

The new Starbuck is much more attractive than the old one. I think that she can probably kick his ass too.

Seriously. I remember I stayed up all night to finish season two, and was left to go to sleep thinking about the huge WTF at the end. Imagine waiting a year between season two and three.

You think that's bad? Imagine a year in between the beginning of Season 4 and the end of season 4.

I've been meaning to point out that she's in the current season of 24 as well as her pscho-cylon love interest (not Sam, the other one) although he's already been brutaly killed.
