Time to RMA motherboard?
2010-02-22, 10:55 PM #1
Problems began when I pulled the retail i5 750 HSF for a Coolermaster 212. I was then getting the same symptoms I am now (runs for 3-4 seconds, no POST or beep, resets). I pulled the board from the case, put the retail HSF back on, and tried booting with nothing plugged in except fans/switches/LED's, video card and RAM. It starts to boot, but doesn't even give a POST beep before it resets. It will go on in an infinite loop until I cut power. I also tried booting with the edge of the board resting on my hand so nothing else was touching it..so it's not grounding out on anything.

The only thing I found so far was one pin out of place in the processor socket, and I put it back so everything looked like it would be fine. I'm at a total loss..RMA the board?

Blah this is not what I wanted to be doing tonight!

Edit: I submitted an RMA request. **** I wanted to game tonight. .(

Make sure it doesn't work then. Clearly something is wrong with it, it shouldn't have done that.
