Growing up classics (music)

So basically now that we can get all our music on Youtube legally streamed to us at our own whim, I've decided to take advantage of it with my recent nostalgia trip.

Post music that you listened to while growing up and discuss. You might remind us of a song that you used to love but forgot completely about. Any genre, no bashing please :(

I used to listen to these three all the time during the 80s (best music decade ever IMO).

LOL The theme for Friday the 13th part II.. I'm gonna watch those now to think of it :)

Ants Marching - Dave Matthews Band

(Sadly I forgot about them for years, but finally found them again and really love Bartender as well, but that wasn't what I listened to as a child so I won't put that here)

Used to love this song when I was like... 6. Haha.

One of the more common songs I liked by The Mamas & The Papas.

Neil Diamond, one of his older songs I liked.

Another one, somewhat newer that I liked.

I listened to a lot of oldies when I was younger (thanks to living with my grandparents).

I think the collection of videos in one post is slowing down my PC.

These may make me appear to be from the 60s but I'm not; I just like the music from that era better.

PWNED! Sorry guys, I really didn't intend for that to happen. I was having so much fun watching videos that I haven't seen in awhile that I guess I got carried away w/ myself.

Uh yeah, you could like, cut that down to maybe 5? That's a little excessive.

I can honestly say that when I was growing up I really didn't listen to too much music. It just wasn't a big part of my life.

However, this album changed all that when I was 15/16 or so, and really did change my opinions about music and what it could accomplish:

How about I pull from the LPs and 8-tracks I owned as a kid:

Limelight by Rush via Moving Pictures album ('tis a crime they still aren't in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame)

Too Much Time On My Hands by Styx via Paradise Theater

Billie Jean by MJ via Thriller

Penny Lane by The Beatles via ... hmmm... what was it... I think it was the blue album "1967 - 1970"

Land Down Under by Men At Work via... I don't remember... it was an 8-track tape...

And my favorite LP, the Star Wars ANH double LP soundtrack!
"Harriet, sweet Harriet - hard-hearted harbinger of haggis."

Looks good chewbubba! I havent seen an 8-track since I was a teenager and they were already phasing-out. Yeah I cant figure out either why RUSH is not in the Hall of Fame yet, but God what a concert they can put on.

doesn't matter.

BTW, Alice Cooper graduated from my high school. "School's Out" might as well be my alma mater.

Geddy Lee is the man! :) I also liked a lot of Jethro Tull but I didn't add that because most of his good stuff came out before I was born. My favorite band is Pink Floyd which makes sense since I was born in the year of "The Wall"!. I've never had the opportunity to see them (although I've seen these guys live & it was awesome) live but my father used to catch them each time they toured the U.S. & my wife saw them live in London when she was living there.
