STALKER Thread (yo, help)

Yo what up fellas.

Got STALKER in December, played the vanilla game through, enjoyed it pretty thoroughly, and now I'm gonna replay with mods.

I downloaded AMK, installed that, and basically, a variety of funky-ness resulted, chiefly that trying to load savegames results in a crash to my desktop. I've googled around quite a bit, and found a lot of attempts to solve this, but it seems that the chief problem is that the Steam version of the game is 1.0006, while most mods work with 1.0004 or 1.0005?

I've tried a few things to no avail, and was hoping that a few of the people here who are into the game, or were (Tibby, JLee, Jin, Jepman, etc.) could help me out!

Is there a way to roll back the Steam game to 1.0005, and if not, where can I find the appropriate versions of these mods? I'm interested in AMK, Oblivion Lost, Arsenal, and possibly Weather upgrade mods, but I'd settle for the gameplay/weapon ones if that conflict poses problems. I used a mod manager when I installed AMK, is this a bad idea/unecessary?

Thanks in advance! There's a lot of vague information floating around on forums about these issues, and I haven't found a solid source with satisfactory answers, so I'm hoping a little bit of Massassians Helping Massassians will come into play here!

First- You need 1.0005, steam versions installs to that version. 10006 was a beta MP patch.
Second- AMK has it's own installer, and thus does not need a Mod Installer.
Third- Look into these two mods (You might like AMK more or not, but both integrate most of AMKs features anyway)-

Fourth- For christ sake get Call of Pripyat, it's the game Stalker was originally meant to be, and more.
Fifth-

Thanks, bud. I read through the STALKER Complete mod description on that site, it mentions a lot of things, but doesn't get into specifics of weapon changes... does it include additional weapons, upgraded weapon accuracy, etc.? Do NPCs carry random weapon complements, or is the upward ramping progression from the original game still present? These were a couple of things I found attractive about AMK's description.

whoowee, 1.8 GB, ok! Downloading Lurk based on y'alls recommendations... watched a few of the overwrought and poorly-soundtracked promo videos ( :P ) and it seems pretty solid in all the areas I'm interested in (updated weather, weapons, etc.).

Thanks, Stabby and Tit!

Complete is less of a gameplay changing mod, and more a gameplay enhancing mod. no new weapons or anything, but it... completes stalker.
LURK however, is a massive gameplay changing mod and at last count had 100 new weapons, whenever holden gets 1.1 done (Between now and.. never), that will be 180 with new textures and animations.

Howdy ho.

Lurk does a lot of things right, but it also does a lot of things wrong.

Like guns.

I mean, christ. Maybe I'm just used to the realistic values I have from cudgeling together about seventeen different mods, but man, I like my game brutal and unforgiving. Not OH GOD I'M STANDING THREE FEET AWAY WHY CAN'T I HIT YOU WITH MY AKS-74?

I'm still working out what needs to be added to my collection of CoP mods. And decoding what the hell the different stats on armour now means. The way I modded it for AMK was that armour was useful... for three or four shots, but gave decent anomaly protection if it was intact. But bites and stuff didn't do as much damage, given that even with a psuedodog gnawing on your armour it probably wouldn't do much against ceramic plates.

I'd also need to go through and overhaul some of the upgrades, but that seems like a huge project and I'd need to sit down and have a serious think about how the weapon mods would interact. I'd think something along the lines of "increases bullet speed and maybe damage, reduces rate of fire". Or "reduces handling, increases rate of fire". But since I know nothing about how firearms actually work on that level outside of what I've learnt from twawling wikipedia, it could take a while.

And Call of Pripyat is a fine, fine game. I can count the number of times Vanilla crashed on one hand. One finger, even, because it only crashed once. Which, compared to the other games, is a significant improvement. It also has quite excellent music (see shameless plug below) and the wider areas are a bonus. It falls down on the lack of variety in armour and weapons, though, and the fact you don't get a huge opportunity to explore the suburbs of Pripyat. Not having random anomalies is an improvement, and kind of makes sense now the Good Ending is supposed to have occured.

Just don't talk about the voice acting. HELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HA.

There is a fix for the stupid "A million bullets to the face" crap the LURK guns pull, give me a minute to find it.

Anybody know wtf is going on here? Playing at 1280x800, Static Objects Dynamic Lighting, all other settings at Max... Didn't have this problem in Vanilla.

Bampf, LURK gumod.
What Video card do you have? OS? Latest Drivers?
Also LURK is not meant to be played with static lighting, all of the graphical features are geared towards full dynamic. That could be the problem.
Tony, for COP mods I use these- Which are all beta and I'm not entirely sure they really do anything, but worth a look.

XP SP3... at the moment, I'm using a slightly ****tier video card because when Dell serviced my monitor they felt compelled to downgrade my vid card in the process... It is currently a GeForce Go 7900 GS, 256 MB. I believe the drivers are up to date.

I'm sorry to have to say this:
You won't be able to run LURK.
AMK or Oblivion lost, possible an Arsenal+OL merge is the best you are going to get.
Look into this, it doesn't change many graphical settings and should work- http://www.moddb.com/mods/super-mod-pack
I also made my own "Mod Pack" (I.E, took 50 different things and threw them together, which is tough with conflicts), but I have yet to upload it anywhere and it's overshadowed by all the new mods.

Nah, I ran LURK in static lighting (****, on a 7800 to boot, and everything WAS on the lowest possible), but it did defeat the point somewhat, I feel. Well, aside from seventeen billion guns and bloodsuckers in Cordon. And the updated (or possibly just lifted) shotgun animations.

And I'm using Darius6's Sound Overhaul, Realistic Combat and a small mod that adds a few extra jackets. I merged the first two's files on my own, which was more tedious than anything.
