Fallout 3, to wander and beyond

So I'd recently acquired Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition for the PC. Its been a pleasure to discover that my computer can handle it very well (except during heavy particle sequences like the opening of the vault door (damn dust clouds)).

So I'm currently downloading mods to get a new experience out of the game.

Right now I've gotten my hands on:

BlackWolf's Backpacks (adds backpacks)
Street Lights (adds beams to lights)
FWE (Fallout: Wanderer's Edition, which pretty much remodels game mechanics)

I'm actually thinking of trying my hand at some fallout 3 modding, too.

Edit : So ya, point of the thread, my bad. Does anyone have some good mod suggestions for me? Something that enhances the look of male and female characters, namely textures?

Fellout is a great graphics enhanced.

Yes, I second Tibby's comment about Fellout. Goes well with the street lights mod. A mod EVERYONE should have is the GUI mod (darnified ui) - you'll need FOSE to run it properly, though.

I also used to have the Fallout Re-animated mod (making animations much better looking). Another graphical powerup is EVE (Energy Visuals Enchancement), makes all laser look way better than in the original.

From quest mods I'd recommend is the -Underground Hideout v4-4 and Cube Experimental (the latter won a few awards IIRC, even).

Is there a texture mod out there yet? Oblivion had some amazing texture mods that pretty much made the entire game 2x better looking with higher res textures. I don't see any for Fallout 3.

I'm a big fan of the FOOK compliation (Fallout Overhall Kit).

If that was in response to me, Kuat, that seems to be more weapons and such, not a texture update to the existing game.

FOOK is terrible. IMO it utterly ruins the entire gameplay.
But that's just me.

FOOK is my favorite all-time mod.
FOOK2 was in beta when I stopped playing, might be done by now.
Basically it adds more weapons and stuff to the game (nothing game-breaking, just gives you better variety and stuff) and makes it so that enemies are wearing slightly randomised gear. Meaning if you fight 3 people they aren't going to look identical.
Mart's Mutagen Mod is excellent for similar reasons. It slightly randomises enemy monsters in size, ferocity, colour. So that way if you fight a bunch of mole rats they will look a little different to each other instead of just a generic mass.
And definitely get darnified ui, makes all the menus and barter screens etc much nicer and better.
Those three are at the top of my "must have" list.

And CM, at the time of my playing there was a lot of texture mods for various features, but I don't remember any good whole game mods. (FOOK does retexture weapons and armor I beleive).

The mod where they fill in all the empty stuff in DC sounds awesome.

It was to the OP.

Anyway, Martigen's Mutant Mod is pretty awesome as well. Between that and FOOK, it added and changed a great deal.

At least try 'em out, they are sorta love it or hate it, as you can see from what TE said.
