In my search to find out what the heck the image below is:

I had found this forum. I simply must ask what the heck is it and who painted it? Is this something out of Warhammer perhaps?

But more importantly, why are the nuns wearing thongs?

Massive Black seems to be a third party company, possibly a render studio? Being that they have story boards, 3d models (for KillZone 2!) and concept art. I will contact them and ask what my picture in question was for. Welp, they are for video games: http://www.massiveblack.com/MBwebolution/projects/ Some intresting art.

They list Quake 4 as one of the projects they worked on, so it's possible it is an illustration for that.

Actually a fascinating image. I wonder if they were conscious of the Annunciation tropes it plays on, or if it's just a byproduct of mimicking "old painting" really well.

There's one painting in particular... but I can't recall it right now. Certainly it's reminiscent of the van der Weyden annunciation, but there's one even closer that I can't quite put my finger on...

That first image is bizarre as hell. It looks like a more twisted version of a General Grevious. I like Nuns in Thongs to, and the other picture that was posted by spook reminds me of something that Dane Cook said in a comedy show "Sharks, f**k sharks, I'll punch a shark in the face!" (originally bees)

Isn't that a Yuuzhan Vong from Star Wars. I could have sworn I've seen this picture often in relation to them when I did some SW research a while back.

I think it might be fan art.

That smoky thing next to the creature reeks Star Wars in any case, though the nuns and setting don't, unless its somewhere like Naboo.

I could be totally off though.
