R.I.P.

It is now so broken that it'd cost more to fix it than the car is worth. I have to get a new car...and as much as I want a Jeep Wrangler, I can't imagine they'd be very comfortable in the winter...and my parents seem to be against buying one for me. So I have to get a car.

I found a really cool black 1990 Honda Accord with a manual transmission...but it had 140,000 miles and we're aiming at much less than that. I miss my car. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

Yeah, that crushed me. By comparison a car doesn't seem like such a loss. I guess I'm sorry anyway...

Sorry, sometimes I forget that you don't all know that I'm 16. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

It looks like I'm going to spend up to $9000 maximum.

The airconditioning in the car is busted in one or two ways, and it'd cost $400 to get that fixed, and the real kicker that brought this up is that it just got a crack or something causing oil to leak out of the engine...well, leak is a weak word..pour. And in order to fix it they'd hav eto remove or take apart the transmission, so that'd end up costing around $400 also. With all the problems wit the interior, the minor electrical problems, and the various dings and dents (none of which are my fault! All the accidents I caused resulted in no damage to my vehicle. I pick my battles well. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] ) it's not really worth much.

It's a 1993 Ford Explorer XLT.

I've been quite pleased with my Pontiac Bonneville in the four years I've had it. It is a '95 model, and 16" tires are great.

Also, the wide frame makes it handle wonderfully on ice and snow (I consistantly passed all sorts of SUVs, Suburbans, big dodge pickups, etc, in snow) and mine has a 3.0 liter V6.

Sometimes it's a pain to park because of the rather wide body, so consider that if you plan on parking in tight spaces. Nice safety record too.

My sister wrecked my mother's (she had a red one, same model)... and only scratched the paint. Totalled the F-150 she hit; nearly broke the cab off the frame (was going to get her driver's permit.. mom told her to back up and she hit the accelerator instead of the brake.. oops. Did I mention it accelerates very well?).

I highly recommend one. The newer models are pretty expensive, but you can probably find one a couple years old with low miles on it, as it seems a lot of older folks tend to own big cars like it.

140,000 on that black '90 Accord?! Dude, get it! You will be amazed at the quality compared to your hunk o' junk Ford. I have a '92 Accord with over 215,000 miles on it! The interior is still in great shape! So is the engine, and most everything else. I can pretty much guarantee that you won't get the reliability and quality of Honda in any other brand, except maybe Acura (hehe), or maybe some newer Toyotas. 140,000? It's just getting broken in! blujay, I told about that much to my dad, but he doesn't think it's a good idea to get something with so many miles. I'll keep trying though,I really did like that thing.

For 9k, you can get just about anything, used of course. I mean I've seen a lot of really good, really nice cars for a lot less.

Do not get the Honda Accord. DO NOT GET THE HONDA ACCORD.

My grandma had an '86, and it was wretched. The number of engine problems she had with it isn't even funny. She finally sold it and got a '91 accord, and it TOO sucked.

The AC was bad, the engine was deplorable (To get up to highway speeds, she was required to turn off the AC. REQUIRED.), the damn thing had something broke on it every month.

Needless to say, my grandma is never getting another Honda.

My dad always gets a kick out of people passing in the winter time, cause he knows that theres a chance that he'll end up passing the same person when they're in the ditch. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I mean SUVs, Suburbans, pickups that can't make it up certain spots around Oklahoma (it is often very hilly in areas, nowhere near flat, except in a few places).

Or ones that are off in ditches/off the side of the road.

Seriously, my car is great.

yeah, my car died today as well

some pops and smoke and the entire ignition **** itself

it's now got a wire connecting the battery directly to the coil to start it, to turn it off I have to pop the bonnet and pull the wire off... going to the electricians on monday at any rate now.

I like jeeps in terms of looks and truckishness. Have yet to test drive one, i'll have to do that.

Evil_Greven, you liv ein Oklahoma, or have you jsut been here? It is quite hilly around here.

Yeah, we aren't getting the accord. I saw a fairly reasonable Mitsubishi Galant,a nd those don't seem to be too bad, so that's an option. Thanks for your help everyone. I'll be sure to tell you what I end up getting, just for some closure. Love these new forums. It's weeeiiird.
