Surprised that no one's posted about it yet.

Pretty awesome. I don't have a mac but the few games I do play are on Steam and now I have one fewer reason not to get a mac the next time I get a laptop 2 yrs from now <_< (when hopefully the platform will have matured quite a bit)

i doubt Valve implemented the Cloud feature to the older games, thats the one thing i wish they would apply to those games, not just post-l4d games

Sorta... You can upgrade the video cards in Mac Pros, but that's about it. Obviously the video options for iMacs and MacBook Pros are pretty limited and you're stuck with what you've got. But if you buy a $2500 minimum Mac Pro, then yes, you can change the video card in it.

Of course I don't see why you'd want to really. Source games aren't exactly system killers after all, and don't expect this to be some massive transition to OS X gaming in the future. Just because Valve cares about it enough to start supporting it doesn't mean that everyone else will.

You think valve is doing this because it "cares?" hahahaha

They are doing it because they think that either a) the mac market is big enough that they can make a profit, or b) the mac market will soon be big enough to make a profit.

More than their own games, they probably want to get a chunk of change for all the other mac games that are sold -- typical blockbusters, not much, but zillions of smaller games like bejeweled clones and whatnot.

Ding, Brian got it.
Steam has a bajillion low-power casual games that would be perfect on a Mac.

TF2 got Cloud support not too long ago.

You do realize that thinking they can make money from doing it means that they care about it, right?

You have to buy the special Mac version, which is usually a couple of generations old.

In particular, Apple. Games are and always will be a second-class citizen under OSX.
