So I'm a Junior in Highschool and....
2004-09-02, 12:00 PM #1
Juniors aren't that important [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Freshman - You are the n00b, everyone bashes on you.
Sophomore - You now have the right to bash freshman, you feel acomplished because you aren't at the bottom anymore
Junior - I'm not at the top..or the bottom, I'm just in the middle, I guess I can punk off the freshman, but it's not thrilling anymore after doing it all Sophomore year.
Seinior - The top dogs, they do whatever, whenever, glory, glory!

Anyway, today was my first day. I am so happy. I have the husband of my geometry teacher for Algebra 2 this year, and he is just a cool guy [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

My english teacher is awesome because she is one of those 'spiritual expressive artists' which means that our english class will consist of 'expressing ourselves' and drawing. Which rocks because the past two years I had the hardest english teacher ever. We worked so fast and so hard that at the beggining of 4th quarter we were done with the years work. So we read Ceaser, Romeo and Juliet, and Antigone >.< plus wrote a bunch more reports and poems and all this other stuff. Which now that I look back at it, it was actually good having the same teacher for 2 years, she knew our strenghts and weaknesses, and she always pushed us to our full potential, we were working at 110% the entire year. I really learned alot, but then again I won't mind taking it easy this year either.

In Electronics today I found out how hard Junior year is. Electronics is the hardest shop in the school according to the teachers/students...The final for the year will be to get Nationally Certified in Electronics. We will have a 10 page or so lab report every week, my first test is tuesday, then a bunch of other stuff. We have a year long project which requires reports on progress every so often. But it all will pay off in the end, because my school has been 1st for about 10 years running in electronics state wide, and 3 kids from my school got 2nd place, 14th and 15th place national last year. The only thing that sucks is I am only 15 years old, I don't turn 16 till November 20th, and the thing is my parents won't let me drive until I'm 17 or 18. This affects me because if you do awesome for the first 3 quarters Junior year, you get to do co-op (which is where I would go to school for a week or so then I would work at an electronics factory or company for a week. etc. etc..) but I don't have a car, so even if I got a job I wouldn't be able to get to it... >.< Oh well [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] No co-op for me.

Anyway my other teachers and suck rock as well..so uh yeah post your first day! YAY!

Junior here too..went to school, fouund out myy locker, went put stuff there, went to where my English class was going to be, found out the teacher I have for American History was going to be teaching it. Went through that Block, then went to College Prep Algebra I, had a good time, went to lunch, saw a guy I know at the Gas Station I go to lunch at sometimes. Went to Orchestra in a nearby city, Which I happen to be the oldest of 4 cello players so I get my choice in instruments (: got back from Orchestra, went to American History, after that I got a ride to the Library, and then got a ride home.

SAJN your electronics class at your school sounds awesome [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] I took all the electronics classes our high school offered and they were not well organized and nobody did anything, basically a stoner class.

I'm so sick of those "expressive" English teachers. Well, it isn't really the teachers' faults, it is more the syllabus' fault. It focuses so much on 'expressing' your ideas, without ever actually telling you 'how'. Grammar is the most important aspect of English. Yes, grammar is difficult, and you must study it in the same way that you might study maths. And because grammar is difficult, it seems that it's just left out completely from the English syllabus.
The most immediate problem therein is that learning another language is incredibly difficult, as you don't know English. Most of my English grammar knowledge came from German lessons. And this is making English students compare very badly with Europeans, especially Eastern Europeans who learn to speak and write their language, Russian and English fluently. English students can't even do one language properly.
Oh, but at least they can 'express' themselves!

Yeah that hard teacher....half a year of grammar...Most likley more. >.<

And yes my electronics class rocks. All the lazy kids take Graphic Arts...all they do it cut out stencils and then ink press or whatever it's called onto shirts. Oh oh! Or sometimes they print out words on paper and make buttons..*cough* Auto shop is pretty awesome, when I get a car I'll just take it to the auto shop where the seniors work on your car. (Don't worry they are damn good). They can build, paint, repair all that good stuff [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]. Every shop has some form of certification, I just feel honored and awesome that I am going to be nationally certified in the hardest shop my school offers. (We had bio-tech but noone joined, so they stopped it in the first year [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] )

We have 3 periods of shop a day. So my schedule is as follows:

1 - CP Algebra 2
2 - Electronics Theory
3 - Electronics Lab (take 3 steps to the next room >.< )
4 - Electronics Lab
OMG OMG OMG LUNCH
5 - CP Spirit cla..err English ( I feel kind of ripped off that the class is so easy, I mean we will be writing A LOT but it won't be as challenging as Freshman+Sophomore year..I half mind and I half don't mind.)
6 - Gym one week CP Spanish 2B the next. (Spanish is moronic, 80% of the kids are hispanic, they all speak spanish, the REAL problem is speaking english, and it's stupid that they only offer spanish, because most kids have 105's in the class. It would be smarter to have Latin, German, or even French, but teaching Spanish to a school FULL of spanish speaking people is plain retarted.)
7 - CP Chemistry (lab)

My class used to be sponsored by Sony and Cherry somerhing or other electronics, so last year we all took apart hundreds of playstations, that was cool [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] Then we built a really small but powerful amplifier, and a radio..and we made our own meters...It rocks because we have all these new oscilliscopes and we all have comfy spinny chairs like most of you proably have at your computer desk...Ohhhh so comfy...and our Electronics equiptment is worth millions of dollars total....BWHAHAHA now I am just plain bragging. I love it.

Good god do I know it. John Steinbeck is the DEVIL.

I have a HARD HARD HARD class lineup this year.
1st semester
1-C Programming
2-Precal
3-Honors English 11 and lunch
4-AP Physics Prep
2nd semester
1-German II
2-Modern US History
3-AP Physics C (C stands for Calculus-based)
4-Economics first 9 weeks, Government second 9 weeks.

My second semester will be so ungodly hard. But it'll be worth it. My senior year I can take all or at least mostly AP classes.

I'm a senior. I actually liked Junior year the most, since I had the best mix of awesome teachers, plus juniors tend to pick on the sophmores for picking on the freshman. (It's a food chain thing. But its fun, you get to piss off sophmores who think its a right to shove frosh into lockers)

My senior year goes as such:

English 4 - New teacher, seems okay.
Religion 4 - (Semi)new teacher, awesome class. (Every one but Junior year was, and junior year wasn't THAT bad)
Mech Drawing - Just for credit. It'll be good, since we work on our laptops. BOUT TIME.
Choir 4 - 4th year, same teacher, love the class. I got best Bass award last year, which is really saying something, we had a lot of talented Bass seniors. (Lots of talented seniors overall actually)
---
Second day (Switch offs, Aday and Bday)
US Government - Teacher isn't new, but I've never had him. But he's awesome.
Math - Teacher is dull, but I'll survive.
Physics - Class is HARD (both the teacher and students say so), but it's awesome. The teacher is cool too, especially for an old guy who comes into class acting as if everyone is going to flunk.

Well, it's my senior year of high school, and I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

1. Jazz Improv - Yes, a class with 5 of us in it. We basically learn about jazz and what is involved in improv.

2. AP English - One of my hardest classes. We will focus a good bit on Anglo-Saxon literature and such.

3. Newspaper - Yep, easy. There are two classes producing one newspaper.

4. Physics - Meh, boring completely.

5. Study Hall/Keyboarding (1st sem/2nd sem) - I took it because it was gonna be super easy and I could do a whole lot of nothing.

6. Precalculus - Second hardest class. I'm not a real fan of math, so...

7. Band - Yeah, I'm a band freak. Too bad it focuses on marching so much during this time of year.

After school: During the fall is marching band, then as winter comes closer, jazz band happens.

English sucked last year, but this year, God spared me a horrible class with Mrs. Barneyback and gave me back Mr. Penrod, my cool 10th grade english teacher (they're working co-op for 12th grade english this year).

This first semester is the hard stuff (anyone else find it amazing that in Bioethics I learn MORE when I read the book and take my own notes than when I listen to my teacher yap about Grenadia? I laugh at all of you people still in High School.

I got out last year. w00tage. Senior year for me rocked. I literally went to school, and laughed at all the underclassment carrying maps around and looking lost. Just the feeling of power behind being a Senior. Man, that first month was awesome. It was always so easy to tell who the freshmen were. They always looked lost, and they always looked like they were 10. It was the running joke of the year that as we got older the incomming population grew smaller in height.

Such fond memories....

I'm a senior this year, and it's pretty much the same as every other year. It's actually pretty mind numbing, even though I'm taking the hardest schedule possible.

1. Calculus-This class is a joke, mainly because the four people in our class know more than the teacher
2. American Government-The closest thing I have to a "pud" class. Seriously, we just watch CNN and debate politics.
3. Physics-Fairly easy so far, most of it's just memorizing.
4. English 4 AP-Quite a bit of writing, but nothing really hard.
5. Mechanical Engineering-Despite the flashy name, it's just a third-year drafting class. We draw models in AutoCad all period.
6. Probability and Statistics AP-Not really hard, just time consuming. Plus we have to watch these stupid videos from the eighties, hosted by the Plastic Hair Lady.
7. Band-Okay, I lied. This is definately a pud class. But hey, I enjoy it.

In physics we just got done with falling bodies. Now we're doing something with velocity. All I know is it had to do with rolling a bowling ball down the hallway. It was cool [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Which makes me wonder--you know how everything has a gravitational pull on everything else? Then how is it that we're still on earth? Eventually wouldn't all the gravity from the 'endless' universe suck us off the planet?

There's already a very good argument against the whole infinite universe thing.

Universe goes on forever, infinite number of planetary bodies, infinite number of stars. Infinite universal life span means that every line of sight would end on a star. Nights would be brighter than days are now.
