I'm not talking about sex or girls or drinking or drugs. I'm talking about healthy activities that you would share with your parents (or if your parents suck, how about my parents?). For example, z@n is into cars, happydud does that thing where he jumps onto walls and playground equipment, etc. What's the thing or things you think about constantly and make serious effort on a regular basis to accomplish?

My #2 favorite thing for the past few years is wakeboarding. Not only that, I love being out on the water, swimming, diving, etc. A bunch of my endeavors relate to this -- for example, upgrading my SUV for better towing by adding new shocks, rear anti-sway bar, front anti-sway bar bushings, fixing problems with it like brakes/warning lights/etc. Also I spend quite a bit of time and money working on the boat itself. None of these involve me just taking the thing to the shop and having them do it (for two reasons: I am super particular and I want things done right, and I'd rather spend my money on something else).

My #1 involves caring for and having fun with my kids -- at least the one who enjoys doing stuff (Edward, 3 years old). Probably not a lot of stuff interesting for you guys, but exploring the woods, riding bikes, playing games, doing puzzles, going to the park, throwing rocks in the water, etc.

(By the way, wakeboarding is an activity in which exists a boat with a rope hanging off the back of it. The participant straps an apparatus similar to a skateboard or snowboard to his/her feet and holds onto said rope. The boat accelerates and pulls the participant onto the top of the water. Said participant proceeds to glide across the water using the wakes generated by the tow boat to jump and do tricks.)

Music! Singing, performing, arranging popular music into a cappella arrangements/deconstructing songs, opera, music history, you name it!

Violently opposed to karaoke though.

(also eating. I love to eat :D)

Riding motorcycles. Fixing motorcycles. Cleaning motorcycles. Looking at motorcycles. Talking about motorcycles. Looking at pictures of motorcycles. Teaching people how to ride motorcycles.

Shooting guns. Buying guns. Cleaning guns. Upgrading/modifying guns. Talking about guns. Reading about guns. Wishing I had more guns. Loading ammo for guns. Building guns.

I LOVE POKEMANS

:psyduck:

Seriously? I used to be a pretty avid bowler, and I enjoy swimming. The problem is that since we moved, all the lanes are ****e and aren't really useable for someone trying to play seriously, and the closest swimming pool makes me throw up after about four lengths. After that happened twice I wised up.

I hate this island.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

These shouldn't come to anyone as a surprise:

Writing stories, namely interactive stories, particularly the Never-ending Story thread. It actually pains me that I'm not writing for it until likely August, even though it's to work on a NeS-related project, especially because the thread is virtually deal at the moment.

Playing and designing games. While I still love what ["hardcore"] video games offer, I'm finding I enjoy multiplayer games (of any sort, video game or otherwise) more now. I've been trying to hone my design skills with forum games, and I've even thought of turning one or two into sort of pseudo-board/card/table/party games.

Those two are probably the only things I could count for this thread. I have to say I dislike your means of something your parents would be proud of (even if we're using someone else's more accepting parents).

I used to love choir back in high school, easily enjoyed that more than anything else I've ever done. Once I graduated though, I couldn't really find the time to get back into it, especially since I'm not the kind of person to actively search out a group :/

I love tinkering and tech in general, not just gaming (I find I'm actually playing a lot less games than I used to). Been experimenting with a lot of programming languages and platforms, and even released an app for one.

My last, and most active hobby though, is writing. I've got numerous short stories, and a couple novels of various lengths in progress (City Eternal easily being the largest of them, weighing in at over 35,000 words the last time I checked).

I wasn't trying to say they should be proud of it, rather, something they wouldn't be totally ashamed of. The point was to keep the thread clean -- no drugs, sex, booze, etc.

Ah, my bad.

Guess I shouldn't include my proud empire built on drugs, booze and sex then, should I?

Everything about playing and writing music. I ended up getting my degree in it. I used to fly airplanes but I don't make enough money to do that anymore.

I also like to play sports. Looking forward to playing some baseball this spring.

Golf. I suck badly at it but I still love to play. I played today...and sucked. But I met a couple of nice guys who let me tag along. One of them gave me tips.

Auto detailing. I'm getting better at it. I want to detail my sister's car since it's darker and it will show how I'm doing.

Baseball. Been following the Padres since I was...6 or so. Been to countless games. Also the reason why I'm out here is to watch spring training. I'm thinking about going to see the Mariners play if it is a day game.

oh - reading for me too. Most definitely.

though I'm going to stress the music bit again. I'll start geeking out and only realize halfway through my lecture that a person's eyes have glazed over.

Also - cupcakes. I realize I covered that in the "food" part of my post earlier, but cupcakes and sweedish fish should be particularly stressed. And any combination of chocolate and peanut butter...

done. I promise.

Playing guitar/keyboard, recording, music production in general.

Right now I'm working in two different bands, one gig playing keyboard on June 23rd for St-Jean-Baptiste (a provincial patriotic holiday) with an estimated attendance of 4000 people and another concert playing lead guitar and keyboards on July 17th for around 2000 people. To say that I'm ****ing excited would be an understatement.

Every once in a while with my "originals" band we manage to squeeze out a song or two. http://www.myspace.com/leroiestmort - Abyss is my favourite, I'm particularly proud of it.

My passions are camping, cooking & hiking. I love to be in the forest. My wife & I go hiking about 4-5 times per week & we try to go camping at least once per month when the weather permits. I also really enjoy cooking. Lately I've really gotten in to cooking French foods. My tarte tatin is to die for.

An engineer at heart, huh? My dad does woodworking, he's got quite the shop these days.

School has killed my passion for the time being, I don't really get to do much anymore, but I love emergency management as a field of study, and I love learning about history (smart to pick engineering, then, huh?). I love shooting but I never get to do it, I love storm spotting when it's the season, and I am terrible at guitar but I like to play around with it. In the winter I like to drive around late at night and find people who are stuck and pull them out. That's about it!
