Hi you guys

it's my first song, I was playing around with software MIDI and made up a melody as I went! It's 22 seconds long, only contains one instrument, and is a constant rhythm. This isn't a showcase because it's not really anything, it's just that it's the start of something great (by which I don't mean that I'll use this experiment for anything, but rather it acts as a launch pad for far more complex things resulting in no less than superstardom)!

I have discovered by importing this song into itunes that it plays back using some kind of default midi instrument, which completely takes away the edge of the song, because the type of instrument I used is crucial to the experience! I wonder what to do now...

yes, it's not really a song I suppose, more of a ditty...a made up as I go sort of ditty that...kind of...sucks...but...stay tuned!

I'm not entirely sure about all the timings, and I'm not even fond of the thump-thump part, I just needed something to build up to the choir thingy so I rapidly whipped it up.

I really liked the intro, made me think of an old space sim game menu for some reason. Not sure about the longer version, the drums didn't seem to fit in all that well TBH.

yeah it's pretty weird really, but I started using the DAW the day I started this thread, I'm getting more comfortable with it now. :)

I don't know enough about music theory to understand WHY the first part doesn't make sense and the second part does, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

I know what you mean Bob, you can hear/feel when it doesn't sound right, when it doesn't click so that your mind is satisfied by the progression. That's how I work thus far, also I switched hosts (from Anvil Studio to Reaper, a far better interface IMO) today and I'm feeling less awkward about doing this. :D
