Sorry, no video - I'm a bloody idiot, forgot to record on my phone vid. Anyhow, I just was walking from work and into a metro underpass, when I saw people (not a lot, mind you - only 2 or 3) standing with almost their mouths open listening to a street violinist.

This guys seemed to be in late 30's/early 40's, was wearing a suit, and playing absolutely ****ing brilliant. Only with 1 violin (which looked old and used) he reproduced Vivaldi's 4 season - the experience in the underpass was like a full orchestra was playing the songs.

It was truly insane. And the guy didn't speak Hungarian when pplz asked him something in between songs. He was German (or he spoke German, apparently, at least).

I think this guy was probably some world-renowed violinist who decided to have a recreational world tour and to play a few songs in European metros. Or maybe not, but truly, this was insane.

I pretty much had to leave only after 2 songs, but gave him all the change I had with me. I would've paid at least $50 just to go listen to him for a few hours when I wouldn't have to rush home.

Anyone else experiences anything similar?

There was some other major violinist who did this a while back, in the USA. Wouldn't be surprised.

This is what/how he played:

Sry, I'm still in awe.

He was megapro (sounded in the metro even better than the song i found on YouTube - and only ONE violin, wtf).

Yeah, and the reporting on it won a Pulitzer, despite being a piece of ****. A disgraceful episode for all involved.

When I was in Seattle I saw some jackass yelling, "Yo, buy my CD for $3! Yo I know you got $3, don't leave me hangin'!"

Yeah, being rude is really going to get me to buy your crappy CD. If he was polite and was giving them away for free, I'd probably have taken one and thrown it in the CD player on the car ride back.

I always love seeing these guys: http://www.viddler.com/explore/corky/videos/15/

Once they had a piano on the sidewalk, it was amazing. Usually results in crowds overflowing into traffic. :)

Also saw this chick on a 1.5 hour ferry ride. Absolutely wonderful.

i have an unhealthy obsession with the violin and cello

I always stop to watch violinists play in the streets of Guildford.
