our car got stolen last night (it had keys in it, so it was a very stressfull night)

It was stolen when we were home and awake (must have bloody pushed it out). It was stolen at a time when we would usualy put it away for the night.

The reason I assume it was drug dealers is the fact that the car was the only thing stolen (even though there was also a second car, and a number of stuff woth money in the garage).

It was recently found by police in a very ugly state, and is definately a total writeoff, and I can assume that there may be a drugs raid somewhere nearby in the near future (because criminals rarely stray far from their base of operations when looking for stuff, especialy when they dont have a car to start off with).

Though I am glad that it didnt end up like a recent crash in Canberra (a chases that just after it was called off, ended with multiple fatalities in both the stolen and impacted car, and split the impacted car in half as the impact was so fast).

TLDR

need comfort for a VERY stressful day. (hell, I wasnt even able to get to sleep until about 4 AM this morning)

Did you have any kind of theft insurance on it?

Not to be a douche / intentionally suggest ironic action in an attempt to be witty, but maybe you would feel better if you did some drugs (in all seriousness, blaze up)

Yes we had insurance, the stress comes from the fact that it was stolen, and that we didnt hear anything.

also, the further fact that they must have entered the house to get the keys in the first place is further proof that they were after the car. (though we do need to change our locks as they still have our keys, though our doors have an older lock that they didnt get the keys to), though they do still have the keys to my car.

what happened is they must have hit a gutter as the front left tire was totaly demolished. They did change cars, though apparently they were in a hurry as they managed to leave some drugs behind. They tried to roll the car into a lake, but it hit a tree on the water's edge. I can only imagine how much more expensive the towing would have been (would have meant getting a crane in on the easter weekend).

This story sounds like something that could be incorporated into a comedy... Maybe Pineapple Express 2?

Wait wait wait... your cops call off chases after too long?

**** that. Here in California, the po-lice chase the crooks till they stop, then beat the **** out of them on live TV. Sometimes they shoot the crooks.

Yea, usually they call it off to try to avoid something bad happening, but tons of good that did haha.

Why would a drug dealer steal a car.

Don't leave the keys in your car.

Because they are bad people? lol.
I stole a ****load of stuff when I was dealing.

Did you just seriously admit to theft?

Well considering I've done it in front of a judge ... doing it anonymous on the internet doesn't really seem that big of a deal or incriminating

keys were inside the house, the guys that stole it must have opened our back door to get the keys.

Most places don't do high speed chases really, IIRC.

I think it's odd that a drug dealer would do this. Most of the drug dealers I know are rolling in cash so they would have no need to steal a car, and most have pretty decent cars themselves. Most likely he's an ******* drug dealer, just one of those dudes who has ****ty weed on the street and rips people off. In fact most drug dealers I know are quite nice. So no, being a drug dealer does not automatically lead to stealing.

But I do feel sorry for you. Even when **** happens that you know will eventually get rectified (whether it be through insurance or other means), it's just a pain in the ass more often than not to deal with it and yes, is very stressful. And more than that, the minute someone enters your property I'd imagine you feel a lot more vulnerable as well (going to get a gun? :) )

Dunno why you think it was a drug dealer, more likely drug addicts or something. The only drug dealer I know just bought a brand new Cadillac CTS and paid for it in cash.

They stole the car, and when the cops found it he noticed that instead of hotwiring it they used the keys, which means they must've been inside his house to get them.

im pretty sure it was a dealer, as they had multiple FRESH stalks of pot in the car, and when they had to abandon it, they couldnt even transfer all of them over (methinks that they must have also been smoking some as well) when they destroyed the front left tire and needed to get in another car.

Also, in the past year we have had a number of differant contractors in the house to rennovate both the bathrooms (and my toilet, being seperate to the major bathroom and all, while the other was an ensuite), and there is always the chance of it just being a random person who was checking out houses to see if there were keys in reach of an unlocked door. (hell, england has had problems with people stealing keys by feeding long poles through mail slots to steal keys in reach of it)
