It's finally here, the 2010 baseball season! 162 games of bats, gloves, bases, peanuts, cracker jacks, ice cream, and beeeeeeeeeeer. My Padres didn't fare well today as Jon Garland's former team (Diamondbacks) decided to give him a going away present in the form of some long balls. I think Padres will win at least 80 games this year. Def. not NL West contenders (that'll go to the Rockies again).

I ask baseball fans here, what do you think of your team's prospect and how many games are you gonna try to go? I plan to hit up as many as 20 games at PETCO Park this season.

Reds fan. Probably none. And I don't watch baseball as close as I did 15 years ago.

Hey, Cleveland, nice season opener. Just give me 9 more of those in a row, so I will have an excuse to not watch any more baseball this year.

Yeah that's disappointing. The only goose egg of today's games.

Twins-Angels was a good game. Initial impressions are a solid Angels pitching staff.

Edit: Two So Cal teams producing back-to-back jacks today :smug:

The Indians are screwed. Totally screwed. Their bullpen is probably the worst in baseball. Hafner will continue to be a big pussy and always be on the DL. Sizemore will do his best, and probably hit 35 home runs, but that won't be enough, and the tribe won't make the playoffs again this season.

Red Sox boast the best rotation in baseball. Case closed.

Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Matsuzaka (eventually), Bucholz and Wakefield.

You must be on something if you think the Padres will have a chance at contending, but every new season breeds optimism, even for the down trodden. :p

Being fortunate enough to have 2 MLB teams in the Bay Area, I'll get out to A's and Giants games, though how many might depend on how much time I spend on assignments during the fire season.

Well...we're enjoying 1-3 in the NL West right now. :(

The Rockies pitched a good game and/or the Padres bats were quite silent. SD: 0 2 1 CO: 7 12 0. Yes, it's only 4 games into the season, I shouldn't panic. But 1-3 sucks :( They weren't like this in Spring Training!

Baseball is more a game than a sport.

its the fun of it, not the constant action. I find myself prefering baseball because its more laid back then INYOURFACEWRARFOOTBALL or RUNBACKANDFORTHBASKETBALL or SKATEBACKANDFORTHHOCKEY. i can listen to it on the radio and actually understand what the hell is going on with the players.

Indeed, just because they aren't moving doesn't mean that there is an extreme amount of strategy being employed as to wear the fielders stand, sacrifice bunts/flies, baserunning, pitch selection, which base to throw to depending on who is on, etc. A lot of times it's simple odds calculations which can be quite fun. It's more a giant chess game than it is a "sport", but I enjoy chess (and baseball) greatly.

And yes, the bonus that its an awesome radio sport is very handy.

Exaaactly. It's much more better at the park. Go to the stadium, grab some beers, chill with your buds and watch your favorite team play baseball.
