Whats this laptop worth?

I'm thinking of selling my old laptop since I'm graduating next week. I just have no idea what its worth since laptop prices have changed a lot since I got it. Here's the specs

HP DV6500

Core 2 Duo @ 2 Ghz
2 megs RAM
Nvidia 8400 GS w/128 megs RAM
Lightscribe DVD player
140 gig HDD
15.4 in screen

I'll give you 78¢ for it.

I'll give you $40 for it.

I would price it roughly in the $300 to 400 range, although I don't think I would personally be willing to pay more than $200 (closer to $150) for it.

I wouldn't pay anything for it... cause it's an HP.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

The video card is what would majorly help you here, I would be willing to go 200$ for that used, 3-400 new.
Course, it depends on the condition and if it comes with all the stuff it originally did too.

Holy **** that's way better than my laptop that I paid $1000 for a few years ago :(

Yes! 2 megs of RAM! :ninja:

The laptop is in excellent condition. I've well cared for it. And I've still got the original box it came in with everything it came with.

IIRC the 8400GS is pretty terribad, so you might as well not count it.
2010-04-12, 4:57 PM #11
Yeah but it's not Intel, and I have had terrible luck with those.

You also suck at computers.

Same computer, formatted twice with two different OSs (XP,7), still can't get aspect ratio settings to ****ing work. Also I have a P4 with an Intel GMA onboard that is worthless.

It's not a bad laptop card.

the simple fact that it's not integrated video is a selling point for a laptop.

Hey don't knock all HP Laptops..
I have an HP Pavillion Dv6 which has in it:
AMD Turion II M520 Processer @ 2.3GHZ
4GBDDR2 RAM
ATi Mobility 4650

It hasn't done me wrong yet. Just wipe all the bloatware clean and you're good to go.

It's essentially integrated level, except on its own card. GS = horrible.

I know for a fact it runs TF2 on moderately high settings at like 30-40 FPS, so its not THAT bad of a vid card. Sure its nothing great, but it gets the job done.

At what res? My 9400M can do that and it's integrated, at 1280x800 :P

I can't wait for the day schools get the money they need, and the military has to hold bake sales to afford bombs.

Whatever is max res on my monitor. I haven't played TF2 or L4D on my laptop in forever so I can't remember the res. :)

I'm running a 9800GS on my laptop, great chip IMO. Runs everything I've thrown at it like a breeze.

That would be bolstered by the fact that it's a 9800, which is high end, not low end.
2010-04-13, 8:45 AM #27
Yes, but you generalized GS to be horrible chips. :)
