So as I'm sitting here wasting hours of my life and dollars from my paycheck away I am wondering how many of you have found yourself in the same situation that has befallen me.

Someone shoot me.

You're not compensated to be on jury duty?

Not sure. I am currently in the process of being weeded out
I am just going to tell them that my workplace really requires I be there since we are small staffed.

Yeah US penalties are pretty harsh for missing it.

I wonder if my country even has such a thing...I've never seen anyone I've ever known have jury duty.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Yeah, we don't have juries.

Nor courts.

I'm no longer wanted on juries.

I'm lucky enough that my job pays for jury duty. I had to go once, spent all day there. I was picked. It was lame.

Plans to do away with the Finnish jury system were announced in recent times, and there are other systems besides a duty-based one for attracting jurors out there. Because I never hear people talk about it, I assumed our system was never based on duty.

I was on call for grand jury duty. I had to show up once a week for 4 months (got extended from the normal 3 months.) Luckily, I was unemployed at the time so the only bad thing about it was that I had to be up at 8am whenever they needed me there. >_>

My boss got asked the question if he was prejudiced against other races in anyway. He said" No, I have a color TV." They said thank you and he left.

Yey for being a felon! No jury duty ever for me!

It should be rather easy to get yourself weeded out. I'd love to have jury duty.
? :)

I couldn't slink myself to the level of a supposed racist honestly. Its very public so I would have to say that aloud anyway and if I requested to say it at the bench it would be painfully obvious. Not to mention i would be grilled by the judge as to why. It is however inner city crime and I am slightly biased on that subject.

I was summoned twice before the age of 23. :\

Same here! Luckily once I had moved to another county, so that got me out of it the first time.

I almost wish I was eligible to be on jury ...

So I could be a total ******* and go against what everyone else is trying to decide.

Well I got off, so I'm going to enjoy the rest of the day and not tell my employer of my early dismissal.

For the record, the general populous are complete idiots. I thought I originally thought that because I have the mindset of a crotchety old man, but no. I wish I could have recorded some of the questions and answers on my panel. Absolutely ridiculous.

Looks like I'm good for another 8 years

One of the people on my panel said that during his previous service he refused to make a decision and let everyone out for their smoke break until they sided with him. Whether or not that had ANY validity is beyond my level of caring.

I've been summoned 5 times - never been picked. I always tell them "I have lots of friends who are cops, believe in the death penalty, the Marine Corps Code of Conduct, and the King James Bible." (shamelessly stolen from A Few Good Men). Never had to serve.

I've been summoned (and picked) a bazillion times.

Most were one-day affairs, but there was one that lasted 2 weeks.

I was not happy.

Got a summoned a few weeks ago. Sent a reply saying I'm working Alaska and got it postponed till October.
