The frequent occurrence of earthquakes so far this year and its only april, this is getting pretty damn scary. excuse me if I gave the wrong magnitude.

Haiti 7.2
Chile 8.5
Mexico/California 7.0
China 6.9

Apparently, high magnitude earthquakes happen at a similar occurence every year in recorded history, but usually in the ocean and uninhabited lands where they don't affect humans.

Just because there are people out there preaching the end of days due to some earthquakes, doesn't mean it couldn't be a real serious concern. Hopefully none this large hit near yosemite, now that could be troublesome.

Unlikely though.

Its more like the doomsayers are predicting a huge asteroid or comet that will be the end of days.

Of course, our detection capabilities have improved as well, which the overall statistics don't account for.

My brother is in China right now, so my whole family was all "OMG" over this. And I just go "guys, he's like a thousand miles away from that." And they all suddenly came back to reality and realized geography matters.
