Following rigorous exercise I find myself feeling amazing throughout the day. I know why it happens, but I only started noticing it some time after I somewhat recently quit psychiatric medication altogether. Anyway, I'm getting addicted to those feelings of serene happiness, added alertness, and it being easier to fall and remain asleep at night. All of this makes me want to exercise all the time.

What do you guys think about such things?
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

You know, I feel the exact say way when I exercise regularly. As a matter of fact, I'd go as far as saying that I love working out. Its an amazing feeling during the work out, after and beyond.

I'm somewhat bewildered that the brain continues to associate work outs to something rough, difficult and altogether negative. I love it, yet I'll often feel like there's a million things I'd rather be doing when its time to exercise. Until I get on the bike, I tend to approach it very reluctantly. Then as soon as I'm on the bike, or on the rollerblades, or lifting weights, then I'm totally energized and psyched to be doing it.

Its probably just the exhaustion after a full day's work. Brain and body just want a break.

But yea, I'm with you on the feeling you get. I just recently started exercising again to rebuild the cardio and be ready for some major sporting this summer.

I used to feel like 5million dollars every day I got up when I was riding a bicycle about 100 miles a week.

I sort of know how this feels. Except for the fact that my knees undo all of the euphoria by hurting like ****ing crazy.

I put longer crank arms on my bicycle and raised the seat to the point where sitting down is almost the same as standing up. I have the added benefit of using the most out of my legs without the fatigue of riding standing up.

I also like that you can isolate leg muscle groups just by moving your feet forward or backwards on the pedals.

If you get knee pain like I do, avoid clip ins. The added stress of pulling the pedal up every cycle adds too much stress. I like normal light aluminum pedals. You do work the whole cycle, but each leg only completes about half of the cycle which is a nice balance and kind of gives you a rest period.

You can also isolate leg muscles by doing a barrage of exercises with a huge Marine Sgt screaming at you and threatening to make you do more if you quit.

Such is the life I have chosen. I will be ready for basic or I will die trying.

Just got done doing 1 hour cardio. Thanks for this thread, Krok, I think this little reminder that I love exercise was the small, final hip-check I needed to get me going again.

I like the added energy, I wish the weather would give me a few nice days to ride my bike. It's either windy as piss or storming like crazy every 3 days here.

I too have started working out. Racing go-karts is more physical than you think and the last 2 seasons I have just been getting beat up on the track. So this season I started a light weight work out program. So far I have 2 podium finishes out of 2 races and I'm tied for the lead in the points championship!

I also downloaded P90X to try it out but haven't yet.

I've rarely felt the euphoria from exercise, in fact it only ever happens when I achieve something new - which follows the laws of diminishing returns.

I love the video of Arnold in his early days. I saw that awhile back :XD: "I feel like I am coming in the gym" but I know, I have been on a routine workout program for the last 2 years and I love it. I see results and I got energy up the ying yang. All whats important is proper workouts, good nutrition and enough sleep.

I can also relate with what Antony said from the past when I was in Army Boot Camp.

I heard from some Army guys that their boot camp has gone to **** these days. They said they're allowed internet access and weekends off and such. That just doesn't seem like it should be part of the boot camp experience.

holy ****, thats pathetic. For a least the first 8 weeks we could not even have a book except the soldiers training competence manual. We were shut off from the outside world completely and only military training and bearing was being drilled into our bodys and minds 24/7. When I graduated Basic and went into AIT (Advanced Initial Training) we were only allowed at certain times walkmans and gameboys (I Know its awhile ago) only at certain times and still we only had Sunday off during AIT, and we were not permitted to leave the Base. I think that the Army has become pussified.

Yeah, dude, it's gone way downhill from what I have heard from some guys just out of basic. They said it's a walk in the park. I know guys who were in the Army years back and they said they actually got respect from guys in the other branches... now everybody else just calls the Army retards. They need to up their standards again.

Now I know what you mean, I didnt mean to take it personally from that other thread, no insult taken. I agree with you totally. Now I wonder why Army personnel are getting their ass's whipped over in the middle east. You cant go to war with girl scout training. When I was in Boot camp I felt like I was in a military prison, and treated like the lowest form of life on earth.

Navy bootcamp's gotten rather soft lately also. Not that it was ever much compared to Army or Marine boot camp, but it's worse now then ever.

Warning: Don't read the following if you're a left-wing, politically-correct liberal. It'll just make you mad, and I won't respond to your complaints, because I'm just stating my opinion and am not going to be dragged into a debate over it.

I say it's due to the pussification of America. Too many politically-correct, tampon-wearing, overweight, drama queen, crybaby teenage boys who's hippy parents were afraid to yell at them or spank them and gave them everything their grubby little hands reached for so as to ensure they had a "healthy" and "happy" upbringing. These boys grew up never facing adversity, and were unable to handle the rigors and adversity of military boot camp, and so found ways to off themselves. This of course led to a political backlash which pushed the military to be more sensitive to the "emotional needs" of these whiny, spineless urchins, leading to the downhill slide we've seen in recent years.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Sarn... that is exactly what drew me to the USMC. They look at all that and say "oh.... well we had better make things tougher."

And I have to admit the USMC Class A uniform is definitely a bad ass uniform.

Dress or Service? Both are badass.

Yes... I am aware of the fact that the Marines have far too many uniforms to possibly justify in any rational sense.

I mean... really.... You've got Dress A, B, C, D. Service A, B, C, D. Utility, A, B. Dress Red A, B, C, D. Evening Dress A, B, C, D.

And that's not even counting the difference between Officers and Enlisted. Not to mention Generals have special versions of all of them. It's exhausting learning all of this. You can only wear them for certain things. Some of the time it comes down to what temperature it is outside for god's sake. There are 4 of them that you can wear while you're on leave, but the rest you must be on particular duty to wear.

Sarn likes to label everyone he doesn't agree with as a "liberal pussy," I don't think he understands people can have complicated viewpoints

Yeah... I'm a liberal and I still agree with the content in spoiler tags. I don't understand the people who are all "omg how are you a liberal and joining the Marines?" I wasn't aware that the US Military was a strictly conservative organization. When you think about it... do you really want a fighting force that refers to itself as conservative?
