Anyone else pick up this game? Or actually hear about it otherwise?

I just finished it after a 40 hour play through. It's basically "rock-paper-scissors" IN SPACE, but once you get used to the battle system it can be enjoyable. The main draw (apart from the story) is you can customize your fleet with a wide array of ships (I had around ~30 blueprints when I finished) in order to best prepare for battles. You can also customize each ship individually with R&D upgrades and a slew of modules to throw on it.

They say the story is based off of "Childhood's End"; while I don't agree with that myself entirely, they do share similarities. It has a great cast of characters in a pretty well written setting. If you have a DS with some sort of rom card, pick it up and see if you don't despise the gameplay, and then buy it if you can. If you don't, I can still suggest you pick it up, it's one of the most ambitious DS games.

I've been neglecting my DS of late. I might look this one up.
