I meant to start this topic a little earlier. I never used to watch 24 on a weekly basis. I waited until many seasons into it and then I saw the first season on sale for under $20. I picked up the next three or four used in a Gamestop and then ordered the rest as they came out through season 7. So, now that I have HD cable I started watching the current season (8) from the beginning. Being very familiar with the characters and format now I didn't think it would bother me to have a week between "hours".
Did anybody catch last nights episode? The end, to me, was absolutely mind blowing. It was the first time I can remember that Jack actually killed someone in cold blood with absolutely no operational requirement to do so . My cursory thoughts on the event lead me to believe that he had absolutely no desire to leave another evil ***** like Nina Myers from Season 1 around.
Anyways, this may be the last season and the rhetoric on Fox makes it sound so. There have been contradictory rumors of course. If you've never watch the obligatory Bluray compilation (assuming it ends at Season 8) must be forthcoming and a must own.
On a political side note I do kind of view the past two seasons as the "24 apology tour" as they seem to be ceding to anti-war/torture/etc type sentiment abit. However, it is well done, not blatant, doesn't "cram anything down your throat", just makes you think. Great show!
