I meant to start this topic a little earlier. I never used to watch 24 on a weekly basis. I waited until many seasons into it and then I saw the first season on sale for under $20. I picked up the next three or four used in a Gamestop and then ordered the rest as they came out through season 7. So, now that I have HD cable I started watching the current season (8) from the beginning. Being very familiar with the characters and format now I didn't think it would bother me to have a week between "hours".

Did anybody catch last nights episode? The end, to me, was absolutely mind blowing. It was the first time I can remember that Jack actually killed someone in cold blood with absolutely no operational requirement to do so . My cursory thoughts on the event lead me to believe that he had absolutely no desire to leave another evil ***** like Nina Myers from Season 1 around.

Anyways, this may be the last season and the rhetoric on Fox makes it sound so. There have been contradictory rumors of course. If you've never watch the obligatory Bluray compilation (assuming it ends at Season 8) must be forthcoming and a must own.

On a political side note I do kind of view the past two seasons as the "24 apology tour" as they seem to be ceding to anti-war/torture/etc type sentiment abit. However, it is well done, not blatant, doesn't "cram anything down your throat", just makes you think. Great show!

Oh, this is absolutely the final season of 24. It's already been canceled. But there is going to be a Theatrical Movie, so don't think this season won't end with a cliffhanger.

This has been one of my favorite shows since I started watching in Season 4. I'm sorry to see it go, but it's become increasingly clear that the writers have run out of new ideas. Not that I don't like this season, it's just not as excellent as it was during its heyday. Better to cancel it now than for it to try and limp through a ninth season.

I was pretty happy to see Chloe finally get that long-awaited promotion . I expect that'll become permanent at the end of the season.

I watched season 1, 3, 7, and now 8 all the way through, and I watched at least 2/3 of season 2.

I've been meaning to watch season 5, supposedly the best season.

Season 8 has had alot of ups and downs. The story changed dramatically, especially around the time they figured out it would be the last season I guess. Dana Walsch (aka starbuck) has been ALL over the place. Her first story plot helping her old boyfriend was so irrelevant to the story that it's obvious that the writers could't figure out where to go with here, and just decided to make her the bad guy, then throw in the whole russian involvement thing at the end. I think that Jack killig Dana was a kinda weird ending to last night's episode-- this season has reminded me of season 1 and 2 in alot of ways in the sense that the story is just going all over the place and kinda doesn't make a ton of sense.

I thought Season 7 has the best continuity in terms of overall story throughout the season.

There were some talks about a possible network move but considering the network it was supposed to move to I didn't have any faith in that either happening or being successful. I would be surprised if the season ended without a cliff hanger, regardless of future plans, although it has been said that 24 will end when Jack is dead but who knows.

They could always do a season where the Tea Party plants explosives in Times Square, implicating Islamic extremists, in front of the building that houses Comedy Central after South Park runs an episode disrespectful to Mohamed but that would be completely implausible.

Russian involvement at the end? . That was still within the first two thirds of the story. Plus, I think killing her made sense when you consider his past experience. It was still extreme to see and a huge change in the moral judgement we have seen over 8 years.

I bought season one back when the show was in season five, because i figured that was a good starting point... but I've tried twice now and just cant seem to finish the season. It just doesn't keep me interested.

Kiefer will always be David the vampire to me.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I would think vampires would age better, though.
