What words do you consistently screw up while typing?
2010-05-07, 9:38 PM #1
I noticed recently that I cannot type the word browser without adding an extra W unless I concentrate. I always type it as "browswer" and have to go back and correct it.

What about you guys? Any common screw ups that you just can't seem to get past?

teh
in/if/is
space in the wrong spot (massass itemple)

I know there are several words that I screw up like you mentioned but I can't think of them right now. Maybe if I continue typing this i'll figure out what they are. Starting now I will tpye the following pargraph withour going back and maknig any corections. Wow this is actually pretty bad. I'm just now realizing how often i have to hit teh delete key. opps i just hit the delete key in that last sentence without even realizing it. wow this is actually pretty hard. i'm amazed at how natural it has become to hit the delete key in normal tpying. tis that a good thing or a bad thing? I mean it's good that I take the time to correct my mistaked, bu maybe I shouldn't be making so many to being with? Ok that's enough for now. this should give you some kind iof idea.

Ah yes. Looking at what I just typed I can confirm at least two common mistakes that I made - I always hit D instead of S, and I type being instead of begin. I also always type og instead of of.

I F this up all the time too, but they aren't typing errors. I just don't know how to spell the damn word right.

When I was outlining for Evidence a couple days ago, I found myself consistently typing "lawyer" as "laywer." Not a good sign.

Mostly just words I can't spell.

I mostly screw up because I end up retyping most of what I post 2 or 3 times before I decide on the way I wanted to word it, but I'll screw up something in the process of deleting/adding stuff, and the sentence will end up being retarded.

I can never spell CONSCIOUSNESS properly.

Nothing, really. If I'm unsure how to spell something, I look it up and try to make sure I remember it next time, and I don't have any consistent typos that I can think of.

I almost always type "form" instead of "from". I actually wrote a special case into my mIRC spell-check script for this to ask which one I want to use.

Any word with an apostrophe. That rascal tends to end up any old place in the word.

edit: I do know proper apostrophe placement and usage, it's just that my fingers get excited when an apostrophe is coming up and it often gets misplaced - or turned into a semicolon.

I spell all words fonetikaly. It's how our ansestors did things, it's how we should do them to. Haven't you ever red anything written in old English? There was no konsistensee in spelling. They spelled things how ever they liked, and the reeder understood them, bekause they understood that written speech is ment to be red out loud.

Well not everyone uses Latin characters, for one.
Secondly, people pronounce things different among languages.
If there isn't a consistency there would be much difficulty in translation.
