I just launched Assassin's Creed (Steam)...figured I'd wrap it up so I could play the second one (which I have for 360).

I'm 12 hours into it and my saved progress is gone. I'm assuming the Steam update nuked it, because I haven't done anything to my computer since the last time I played.

That's odd. I've installed Steam over many times throughout multiple Windows installations and it's always been intact. In fact, my Steam folder's creation date goes back to when I installed that hard drive.

I doubt Steam did it. Steam generally doesn't DO anything that would affect save files.

Neither do I. :confused: Maybe I'm forgetting stuff and I didn't actually play it since I formatted (and it saves games in a dumb place instead of in a Steam directory)...which would explain it. I don't think so, though...I definitely remember how much better it ran after I upgraded.

Oh well. Torchlight uses Cloud, so hopefully I won't lose that. :P

Non-Valve games usually save in their own directory, or somewhere in My Documents/Saved Games. Even if they are purchased through Steam. At least that has been my experience.
