Force Unleashed II Trailer

Honestly only tried the Force Unleashed Demo on PS3 and never bothered getting the full game (waiting for PC version to get cheap), but this Trailer looks pretty sweet.

Whoa... that looks like a complete cutscene/intro... I was thinking this was going to be the one with the giant rancor, but I hadn't seen this yet.

Yeah this one is new. But I don't need this to tell me the sequel will be fun, the first game was a blast. :)

The excuse for bringing Starkiller back ( he's a clone ) is cheap, but it makes sense, so it's forgiven.

Check out the official website, some clips of cutscenes from the first game and the new game are up plus some exposition. The bigger buttons on the right trigger puzzles to solve, once you solve each you are rewarded with a "memory". Some of the smaller buttons only unlock once solving enough puzzles, and those contain log entries.

So, it's cool and all, but can we have a star wars game where you aren't an overpowered killing machine where everything falls beneath your destructive wake of pure power? I just wanna play as a normal dude, or at least as a jedi who sucks. Like Kyle in Outcast, the Nar Shaddaa Levels. :(
DO NOT WANT.

I didn't play the original "Force Unleashed" game. What type of game is it exactly (e.g: 1st/3rd person). Also, am I correct that LucasArts developed this game? If these games are as good as people say they are, maybe they'll grace us w/ another good SW FPS soon.
? :)

It's third person, destroy-everything-god-of-war style gameplay, where you basically button mash and do saber and lightning combos. Basically, pretty flashing lights and no real substance. The Force Push system was pretty awesome, that's about it though.
DO NOT WANT.

I still viciously loathe the Marty Stu main character (using the term 'character' very loosely) but at least the game mechanics and many parts of the story were fun. So more of the same should be neat.

Not as neat as JK4 though but as far as the EU goes I don't know where it would be set, what with the Yuuzhan Vong crap ROONING TEH UNIVERSE FOREVA.

God of War with lightsabers.

My biggest issue with the first game was that they wrote very little of the game engine (assuming that the pieces that put the AI, physics, and graphics engines together had to be written by them), which left their biggest burden to be the content, which I found to be really boring.

I will say this: the AI was good. Vader threw me into a corner, which knocked me down, and then he kept on hitting me in a way that would knock me down whenever I got back up. It was incredibly cheap, but I can't imagine a human player doing it any other way.

looks ****ing stupid. More of the same overpowered invincible gameplay rubbish that relates in no way to the films. How about a game that requires patience, skill and intelligence?

Naaah, o0o look pretty graphics!

That was the idea behind KotOR. The only game where you actually played as a Jedi.

So, can we have more of those, then? And perhaps in different genres for those of us that aren't huge RPG players? There's no rule that says a first- or third-person shooter has to be over the top flashy graphics and overpowered heroics.
DO NOT WANT.

Wait... so instead of just one godlike Jedi ... there will be clones and clones of the same guy running around? The same guy who can pull down Star Destroyers with ease?

I'm still confused about the Starkiller character. How many times does he have to be "betrayed" by Vader to realize something? Then again, Starkiller isn't really an interesting character to begin with, but still...

I assume they would fix all the problems from the first game in this one. In my opinion, FU was an unpolished mess that felt rushed and not well thought-out. If they took the time to iron out the issues and sit back to look at their final product objectively, it could been a much better title instead of something that turned into frustration too often.

It would be kinda cool if there was something wrong with him as a clone. Like a defect or something.

I enjoyed the first one immensely (read: I'm not stuck up), and I am looking forward to this one as well.

Yeah the first one was mindless fun, so this could be interesting.

Are we sure those are clones of Starkiller at the end?
nope.

Why does everyone hate on MotS?

It's nice to see that stormtrooper tactics stay true to the original trilogy rather than the prequels, though. They rush in and try to shoot him at point blank range like good little cannon fodder, rather than displaying any sort of competence whatsoever.

Better level design then JK, and numerous engine enhancements.

A nice slow-burning game in the Star Wars universe.

For its time, I always liked Jedi Power Battles. I had a lot of a lot of potential... multiple characters, unique moves & combos, unlockables, and upgrades... But it ended up being too short and they never took it any further. No follow up with episode II or III or any of the expanded universe. It could have easily made a great game had the tweeked it only slightly.

This.

And I played TFU (lol) on the PC (ran like crap - had to install the patch that REDUCED the graphic quality). I really LIKED the Starkiller story. Best EU Star Wars story to come around in a long time. Did I mention it ran like crap on my PC? It ran like crap on my PC.

Well obviously Vader doesn't want lots of clones running around. I get the impression that Vader is tinkering with the genes of Starkiller trying to make him better, and probably more subservient too. The particular clone in the trailer (I presume the one you play) shows promise but Vader doesn't think he's good enough so ultimately tries to have him killed (but I think it's part of a test to see if he's good enough... else Vader would have kill him himself).

The other clones have other variations on Starkiller's genes.

The clone was technically never betrayed, but Vader is giving him the memories of the original Starkiller somehow, for some reason (either that or he can access them through the Force somehow, which would be weird but it wouldn't make sense that Vader would allow Starkiller to remember beating him and forming the rebellion ). I would assume Starkiller clone at first trusts Vader and doesn't remember.

I think the "defect" is why Vader tries to have him killed. Probably related to how quickly after that he easily turns on the Stormtroopers... in AotC the clones obey orders without question, Vader is probably looking for that in his clone.

Yeah I think its hinted to in various news bits about TFU2, and especially the official site now.

Man, the EU is just lousy with clones.
Star Wars has one of the most insane, bizarre, and incomprehensible canon I can think of.
2010-06-12, 9:19 PM #26
I just beat TFU today for the first time. If TFU2 is anything like it I wont bother. There were to many little parts that just pissed me off, like most of the boss battles, and how aggravating it was to pull the star destroyer down.

Though the trailer is pretty cool, visually. But wasn't it established that jedi couldn't be cloned? Wasn't that the whole point of JKO?

What is JKO? Jedi Outcast?

I'd hardly call a half-ass first person shooter canon and worthy of establishing 'anything'. The Emperor, Joruus C'Boath and Luuke Skywalker (THe later two in the Thrawn Trilogy) were all cloned Jedi.

I don't think its a cheap plot twist that Starkiller was cloned. Cloning is a very prominent part of the Star Wars saga. It would have been cheap way to circumvent death in most other medias, but for Darth Vader to try and clone an all-powerful force adept makes plenty of sense if it can be used to his advantage.

My only issue is that his death in the first established a proper bridge between the Clone Wars and the Galactic Empire era. It also removed Starkiller from the equation. TFU2 will either end with him dying again, or going into hiding with Juno Eclipse, which will just result in another 'hidden jedi' plotline.

Looks to play a lot like the first right now with updated graphics. This isn't necessarily a bad thing to me, because I loved the first one and beat it twice on Sith Lord.

I love the original. Mindless slaughter is satisfying if you've only got 20 minutes of play time.

That, OR they'll stop flirting with the idea of creating a 'What-If?' universe and just do it. This has been announced as the "dark" second entry into a trilogy, remember. I for one would like to see Marek and Luke team up in a co-op third installment.

Admit it, as cheap as that may sound written down, it's better than having someone who can toss around the Emperor and Vader like stuffed toys just magically disappear.

Unless he disappears for Juno's sake; As long as Starkiller is causing trouble, she's a target. He has to "go away," for the same reason Bruce Willis killed himself in Sin City.

Or maybe he goes off into the unexplored territories to look for Revan, that's a popular reason to disappear.

I like how Vader pulls the whole Dr. Evil strategy and decides to leave that guy in a room with a handful of inept guards.

Look like they tweaked the targeting, so it would target enemies instead of crate #4312.

I hope they make the lightsaber more like a lightsaber, instead of some strange stick you whack people with. The cutscene trailer shows him cutting up Stormies nicely, so there isn't any reason for the lightsaber to act differently in the game.

I rather have Starkiller actually slice up more enemies with one hit of the lightsaber. The tradeoff could be, let's say, he takes less damage to go down.

That makes no sense, everything in JO/JA was achieved with a handful few buttons. It could easily be done on console and it WAS done on console (xbox) in JO's case.

If you're going to complain about video games being dumbed down for consoles, at least complain about viable reasons.

And I personally think JO/JA combos were lame. THAT said, I really hope they insert a much improved lightsaber combat system. It was definately one of the Force Unleashed weaker features. It behaved more like a solid, glowing sword than it did a beam of searing energy, which was definately annoying.
