Basically, post some songs you really love that most people won't find in a store or on the radio. Doesn't have to be some unknown band, just a song many of us may have never heard before. (Bonus points if the song is free to download, otherwise YouTube it or whatever)

Mostly, just an excuse for me to post this overlayed chiptune song I discovered the other day, which is absolutely amazing IMO. I'm not even a big fan of chiptune music in the first place, outside of video games.

Queen tracks that are (relatively) obscure:

'39
Liar
The Prophet's Song
Keep yourself alive

Things that no-one in America will probably have heard of:

Divine Comedy - Gin Soaked Boy
Divine Comedy - Alfie
One Night Only - Just for Tonight

If I do any more nobody will take the time to read it, but those are all great songs.

Warning: You may lose hours of your life if you proceed.

You can stream samples of their music for free (you can find several full tracks on YouTube). I rarely ever purchase music but I've purchased all of their albums. I almost drove to another state by accident once while listening to "Hydroponic Garden" in my car. I think that aliens might be controlling my body.

P.S. You can pay them money via their website if you download their music illegally. If you do like their stuff send them an email & express an interest in getting a copy of their first album under the name "Notch" (the album is called "The Path"). They'll send you a direct link to download it for free (it's worth paying for "Dreamshore Forest", "Station Blue" & "Or Plan B").

I'm from Kentucky so I must also represent by posting some good local bluegrass &/or folk bands.

Bleeding Hearts - Queen Of Happy

[mp3]http://www.bleedinghearts.co.uk/albumdownloads/Bose_Liebe/1_Queen_of_Happy.mp3[/mp3]

Actually have another bleeding hearts song too: [mp3]http://www.bleedinghearts.co.uk/albumdownloads/Merchants_of_Propaganda/02_Third_Eye.mp3[/mp3]

Also, Kyrbgrinder. All I could find is this song though, which imho isn't even in their top 5 songs...

edit: found a better song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsKikXxMDbA&feature=related but the quality is kinda crap. Shows how incredible the drummer/singer is though

It's interesting how I just heard a song on the radio that I've never heard of about which I really liked.

It's Paloma Faith - "Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?"

Anyway most of the songs I listen to are lesser-known because I don't get spoonfed radio music like yall clowns

Sandstorm calling was the only song I really enjoyed by him. The rest of that album was sub par in my opinion.

This post needs a massive :smug:.

I don't ever listen to the radio. Yet even I enjoy music that is still commonly played on the radio (most outstanding example being Dave Matthews Band). Just because it's played on the radio doesn't mean it's not good or something.

The point of this thread was to open discovery of music that may be otherwise hard to find, not to be elitist about where we are finding our music. >.>
2010-06-15, 4:24 PM #32
Not to mention the fact that just because something is on the radio in another country (e.g: Sweden) doesn't mean that it's on the radio here. I like obscure local bands that no on here has heard of but that doesn't dispute the fact that some of the best music in the history of mankind has been played on the radio (e.g: Pink Floyd). We actually have local radio shows that play local bands in my city (Louisville).

Translation:

Please don't die
Or I will have to, as well
You of course will go to heaven
But I'm not so sure about myself

Would you like some sweet oranges?
Or for me to read you a story
Or would you like for me to explode all the stars
That disturb you from your sleep

Please, just live
Can't you see - I live by you
My love should be enough for both of us
Would you like a sea with sails
Or all the new musics
Or for me to kill the neighbors
That disturb you from your sleep

Would you like
The sun instead of a lamp
Or the Alps outside our window
Would you like me to give away all my songs?
To give away all my songs about you?

Would you like
The sun instead of a lamp
Or the Alps outside our window
Would you like me to give away all my songs?
I will give away all my songs about you
