Just a couple of beers not the whole damn six-pack!
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Maybe I have never had a serious addiction, but is it really necessary to do zero of something instead of trying to practice moderation? That's always worked for me. I guess maybe that's the point. If you have a problem with it, you can't do moderation.

I completely quit a few years ago. Haven't had a drop in over 4 years. I was drinking one night, then I realized how much alcohol had ****ed my family, and swore to never touch it again.
2010-06-13, 2:07 PM #9
I thought you said you learned some control? Which seemed odd to me since alcoholics can't control it. By definition that's what it means to be alcoholic...

Anyways, best of luck and I hope you can stick it this time.

ive been drinking a lot recently, ie over 8 units 3 times in one week, and it really effects my health. my psorisis scalp now looks like a giant scab making all the hair fall out....:suicide: booze reduces migraines though!
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

I'm not having a tough time controlling it... It's just not helping my life in any way. The effects of just a few beers effect my ability to condition... I also don't like what it does to me as a person...

Your body requires the drug in order to achieve homeostasis.

I'm sure you can stick with this. i mean there's gomma be times when it feels pointless to NOT drink, but there's always the possibility that you'll come out of those times without having consumed a drop, each time. I've seen it happen...

Unfortunately, it is possible that you will never become a moderate drinker, I'm not sure if converting into one as an alcoholic is impossible or not, but I do know it's best to not push it. You did say somewhere that you've been drinking a lot less than at your worst, but when alcohol is harming your life, that's not moderation...which I see you've realized anyway.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Just switch to wine. The worst thing that'll happen is that you'll become a snob.

I've been struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction for the past 8 years. It's not pretty. Rehab 4 times. I still go back to it. :(

Longest I've been sober - 7 months. I r failure.

I haven't quit. I grew up from blackout puking being accompanied by cries of 'i'm never drinking again' to simply excusing myself, throwing up, and returning to continue having drunk conversation.

I think that's how you know you've really grown up.

I spoke to redhead. The sources of all of the problems we have stem from me drinking. You can take bets all you want. I am crazy about that chick, and it's not worth it to lose that over drinking. You can encourage all you want Commander 598, but all you're going to get in return is a big **** you.

No, I had been drinking for a while again. It just didn't seem like it was causing any problems. I have realized that all of the issues with redhead, with me freaking out and constantly worrying and ****... that **** only happened when I was intoxicated. To me it's a pretty good sign that drinking is to blame for my behavior that was causing her to get angry with me.

I have learned an important lesson: if you have a problem in life, drinking will only make it worse.
