Our day has arrived:
http://news.nationalpost.com/2010/06/16/working-lightsaber-the-most-dangerous-laser-ever-created/

How much more powerful do you think these handheld lasers can get? It's also pretty cool the company made them look like hilts. I predict only about 100 more years until an actual, real working lightsaber.

I found one of the links within more interesting, where the cop punches the 17 year old girl in the face.

Yeah, that was cool.

I have tried and tried to turn this into a joke about prostitutes. I know it has to be possible. So frustrating.

Working lightsaber my ass. "Can set skin on fire." Yeah, sure. After how long? 30 seconds?

I want to see it sever hands with the flick of the wrist.

Yeah. That article doesn't reflect what's in the vid. The officer should have pointed a gun / taser at her head and kindly asked her to STFU before handcuffing her. Not very smart of her to try and fight a policeman.

I think all three of them were in the wrong.
All that fuss over a jaywalking ticket, the girls were stupid and the cop probably didn't handle it the best, but eh, he probably wasn't expecting for a couple of girls to shove him over a jaywalking fine.

Tempted to post a picture from Drawn Together but it definitely wouldn't be allowed.

Those girls resist arrest, and the crowd yells at the officer. $10 it's racial.

Speaking of the original post : A hand-held laser that causes instant irreversible retina damage? Styled to look like a lightsaber? Does anyone else think this is a horrible idea? It's like a toy gun that shoots real bullets.

That particular laser has been around for a while. I've seen pics of it here and there for at least a year or so. Maybe the internals are different, but I've seen that body many times.

Anyway, mildly interesting.

EDIT: This thing isn't supposed to look like a lighsaber. It's supposed to look like a "tactical" flashlight. Whoever wrote this article is a fool.
