What fun would it be otherwise?

Hey, nice, did you go to Round Rock High School? I got a buddy who went there, class of '06.

Nah, I went to Brentwood. I did know a couple of people at RRHS though.

So I found out today that I didn't get a raise.

Who needs a roommate?
also my wife has to come with me
2010-06-24, 3:42 PM #84
Yeah sure, come stay with me here in OK, we'll let the lady have my bed, you can have the couch. PS I also still get my bed.

You couldn't handle her.

Also, she'd shoot you. In the eye.

Seriously though, since I didn't get a raise, I figure I could get the peanuts I earn anywhere, so I'm looking.

What kind of work do you do?
2010-06-24, 4:28 PM #87
I manage the city's contract department; arranging contracts with vendors to do work within city limits; prepare and work within annual budget; I oversee a staff of 7 who report directly to me. I also, part-time, manage the city auditorium, overseeing the technical equipment (audio, video, and lighting). I have 4 employees there, and about 30 volunteers.

I don't particularly enjoy it, but I'm good at it. My favorite job was when I was a gardener at the city cemetery while I was in college. I mowed the lawn, trimmed the trees, prunes the roses, chopped wood, buried stiffs. I loved it.

That being said, I am willing to do just about anything. Obviously, specific trades (carpentry, computer programming, engineering) might be beyond my current skillset, but I'm open to anything.

As for the actual weather here, I don't think we got above 90 today. That's an anomaly. We've been in the high 90s pretty much all week, and if I were a gambling man I'd bet everything I own that we'll top 100 within three weeks.

Make no mistake: Summer in Austin is ****ing hot.

I got my MBA in management. I had a minor in business economics when I was an undergrad. I find them both useful in my current occupation. As useful as a business degree can be, anyway.

I've thought about getting my PhD, but I have neither the time nor the finances right now.

My wife has a BS in Management from the same school I went to. She is currently unemployed. The company she worked for folded in November, right before we got married.

Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest is almost always hiring for Horticulture Technicians. It's about 15 minutes from Bardstown, KY. I doubt that the pay is all that great but it's a beautiful park. You'd be taking the Kentucky Bourbon Trail back & forth to work each day.

USA Jobs is your ticket if you want a job in the parks service.

Working in Springville would be the **** for me. Only a little further from Vegas than the distance from, let's say Palm Desert to L.A. and 1.21 gigawatts more spiritually satisfying. You may enjoy it.

But theres always Salt Lake. they are some stupid good paying jobs at hill AFB open sometimes.

Grow a pair and consider Minnesota.
The weather sucks, but it keeps alot of the BS you find in Cali out of here.
The only other thing I can complain about is the insane taxation here.. but other than that life is good.. :D
2010-06-25, 10:56 PM #109
and, on top of that, you've dealt with Cali's hippies, no reason why you can't just exchange them for a similar level of crazy in the Minneapolis/St Paul region
