Is there any reason nowadays to have both in a PC if they both read and write, and I'm not into copying discs?

I'm fixing to switch PCs, and my old PC has both a DVD-RW and a CD-RW. I thought of only moving the DVD-RW into the newer PC.

The DVD-RW drive will do both. I think there *may* have been some early models that didn't, but that should be long gone by now. Even BDRW drives are getting cheaper.

Nope, even BDRW drives have CD support.
If you really want you can check the speeds, a DVD drive normally will have slower CD read speed, although it really doesn't matter (at all).

Prices have been falling recently. I hope to get one with my next build, whenever Source 2 comes around.

Nah I figure if they don't announce it (even if its not released, they sometimes give system reqs for it) in the next two years I'll get something new.
