Not to AZ (they won't hire me, bastards), but my roommate found a 2br apartment with garage space for $900/mo....which means I will be paying about $100/mo less than I am now and I will have a large single bay garage, no dogs, no guineas, and only one roommate instead of 3-4.

I now pay $485 (room), $120 (estimated) for oil, $50/mo (mandatory cleaning lady), $45/mo (cable), and ~$22/mo (elec, varies)...which is $722/mo.

This will be:
$450 (rent), $20-40 (summer/winter) propane, $20 elec, $45 cable. $535-555. And as part of paying for internet, he doesn't mind if I have full use of the garage and also the larger bedroom.

$2124/year savings and much better living situation.

:D
woot!

Goddamn, $450 for rent? I pay almost three times that much. I really need to get out of California.

Coincidentally, an opportunity just opened up for me in AZ.

Nice find. I'm paying 485$/month + 60$/elec a month out here in canada for a 2 bedroom, 1 kitchen, 1 living room, 1 bathroom apartment. No garage. I'm also paying 80$ a month for internet/phone combo. I don't have cable.

Paying this all alone just sucks ass, haha

Mine's $325 + utilities. When I lived in Idaho, it was $295 including utilities.

Yeah, but you had to live in ****ing Idaho. I have a pretty nice place, and I don't have to worry about the weather (it's always nice). But still, $1000 less a month would be nice. I hope the average pay rate is much less in other places.

Sounds like this place - same room setup, but with garage. Cable and internet is $38/mo + tax/fees and just internet is $60. Go figure.

Jesus H, do you guys get paid peanuts or what?

I pay about $2,000 a month for rent, utilities, cable/internet, car/motorcycle insurance, and all the other basic "requirements." Add another few hundred bucks for food and clothes and car repairs and ****, and my total monthly cash outlay is about $2,500. I still manage to save a good chunk of change each month, without my wife working.

Are you guys making less than $30,000 USD a year or what? I've never lived outside of CA, so I have no idea what the "rest of the world" is like.

I know I get paid peanuts. I don't get paid much more than minimum wage at this job, so if it wasn't for living with my dad and having to pay for virtually nothing while saving, I'd be pretty screwed. As it is, I'm lucky to be able to move in a room in my friend's house for cheaper than most places rent around here, otherwise I'd still be staying at my dad's place.

Move to Texas JLee. I just moved into a rent house with a friend on the nice side of town (old people FTW), $500/mo rent (split between myself and a roomate) for a 3bd/1bth house, with covered parking, and a huge back yard. Electricity is typically high, 80-150 (summer/winter) but split two ways, not so bad. Then the internet $40, and water/sewer/garbage ~40ish.
All in all around $360/mo. It did however, take a good bit of change to get settled. Washer/Dryer purchase, and all the other things you need around the house. (silverware, cookware, dishes, towels, cleaning stuff ect ect)

I do pretty well, but if I had to pay for my own apartment and got a nice place, I could get up there...some 2br apartments go for ~$1500/mo. I also drive older vehicles, so I have no car payment (well I do now, but that'll be gone when my truck sells) and cheap insurance.

If I had $1500/mo rent, $400 car payment and $200 insurance, I'd be right up there.
woot!

I suppose it's about even, then. I don't have a car payment, but I donate about the amount of an average car payment to various charities each month.

I'm looking forward to the girlfriend moving in with me and being completely dept free in december 2011. By splitting living arrangement costs with the girlfriend and being free of dept will pocket me an extra 1000$ a month.

Can't wait!

House I rent is $930 / month (I pay half that). I can afford way more than that, I just haven't bothered to move into a nicer place yet (location of my current place is perfect, but the house itself is old, small, and just generally crappy). It's a pretty good deal though I think considering most of houses in my neighborhood are $500k+ houses.

I've never lived there personally, just passed through numerous times. Basically beautiful country without, I presume, leftist oppression.

Idaho is boring IMO. I've been to Boise twice, and everyone there who I asked what they did for fun, was telling me stuff most people do on a regular basis...

If HP wasn't there I don't think that town would be what it is.
