You can't commit suicide when you're already dead.

Cleveland is overreacting. This is the NBA, since when are players indentured to play for the same team for the rest of their lives?

All I heard was that the owner of the Cavs is a dick and he's the one to blame.

The only thing I have a problem with is Lebron's nationally televised special about which team he's going to. That was some lame ass ****.

Yeah, this. When I heard about the special I couldn't believe it was a real thing. **** you, LeBron. You are not a selection show. You are not a draft.

And who pulls the "well.... I might go for another team.... But then again I miiiiight stay here where the fans and the organization absolutely love me.... I can't decide how selfish I am yet..." bull****?

I mean... rumors will happen... but Lebron James did all of this very publicly... and it just reeks of very deep narcissism. He might win a championship in Miami, and he'll get what he wants, but he'll never be as adored in Miami as he was in Cleveland.

It's just like CC and Cliff Lee. Lee might end up on the Yankees soon. Cleveland fans still have not forgiven them, and I know at least Philly fans resent Lee for ditching Cleveland (who spent a ton of time and money helping him become the best god damn pitcher in baseball) more than they like him as their own player. Yankee fans have no shame, though, the Yankees invented this sort of thing.

Imagine if someone did that to your team. I can't imagine Roger Spruce would be all that happy if Kobe just picked up and came to Boston. A certain part of you would say "alright now we're going to be ****ing unstoppable, but **** that guy, I don't want him on my favorite team."

As a Browns fan... There's a part of me that loves having Colt McCoy on the team now. But there's a part of me that hates having a Texas Longhorn run my ****ing team!

I think I've provided enough examples of this.

The players change.

The managers change.

The logos sometimes change.

The franchises sometimes relocate.

What is it you're rooting for in club sports leagues, exactly? If you say your home town/state...well, a lot of the time the people behind your home team will be from elsewhere, sometimes even from another country. In any case, you're not rooting for anything concrete, just the ideal that a group of businessmen and whoever they decide to hire from all over the country, and the world, somehow represent you and the region where they do business and you feel you have ties to.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I'd take Kobe on my team any day. Rondo, Kobe, Pierce, Garnett and Jermaine O'Neal, with Ray Allen and Kendrick Perkins as the backups at 2 and 5. I could live with that.

Shaq should have a special on where he's going to end up, mocking LeBron. It would be great. Unless he goes back to the Heat :o

Shaq is probably one of the reasons LeBron left. They do not get along.

Our money is the reason why. We pay to go see them play, we pay for their merchandise, we pay to expect our team to do well. you pay your taxes, what do expect from it? good government. we pay for our sports teams and expect good entertainment, maybe a championship.

however, money isn't everything, we root for the sports because we have fun

So it's an investment with the possible return of being entertained. Still requires suspension of disbelief to tell yourself you need to invest in the team you choose to root for, specifically.

I am sooooo glad that the Yankees didn't acquire Lee. If they did, they would pretty much have guaranteed another title.

I think there was also a ceremony for LeBron/Wade/Bosh.
