ACORN didn't try to help a prostitution ring

"w/" is just a modern typographical equivalent of an old written abbreviation, w̅. Stuff like this was even used back in the middle ages, like þ̅ for "that".

Yeah that guy didn't seem legitimate from day one.

You could always stop? You might.

I liked Anthem as literature, but I think she's the center of a character cult.

Alright, I'll level with you. I'll be straightforward for this post (since you haven't understood anything else so far.)

You aren't intelligent, wise or well-informed and nobody here thinks you are; not the conservative -ians, and not even the military -ians. You're racist and xenophobic, and nobody believes you when you try to excuse it by saying you have a 'dark sense of humor' that we somehow don't understand. What you believe is a set of personal political beliefs is actually an extension of the fact that you are a horrible person, based on every comment you've made on this forum, and everybody is sick of hearing about it.

Here: http://www.freerepublic.com/
This is a forum that is full of people just like you. Go there and don't come back. You'll be able to pretend you read Ayn Rand and crack 'jokes' about King al-Hussein Obama I and we won't have to deal with you anymore. You'll be happier and we'll be happier.

Think about it.

I love how mean you get when you feel threatened. If you actually believe everything you wrote above you are a far worse person then you could ever hope to portray me as. But keep up the good work, the more you spew it, the more it will be believed (by people who aspire to be just like you).

Now I've not had the opportunity to care enough about wook to form as strong as an opinion as Joncy has, so I'm a little more likely to give wook the benefit of the doubt and not think he's a xenophobic racist, and instead just think he's stupid. Stupidity and bigotry can be hard to distinguish.

A venn diagram of adjectives describing members of this forum would be so hard to make, but so awesome. You could even have one circle be "stupid" and one be "intelligent" and there would be members in the overlap. Just a fun thought-game for you all.

I think pretty much everyone would be in the overlap

Haha, Venn diagram insults. :v: I notice that your diagram seems to imply that all Canadians are also losers, and this is also funny to me.

The first one is a "w" horizontal line over it, and the second one is "þ" with a horizontal line over it.

Strange. I'm willing to bet that both Jon`C and I can agree on at least one very obvious thing.

I fail to see how "w/o" is less acceptable than "without" after so many years of it being used (there's been plenty of time to get used to it). In the end people will just have to get over the fact that I don't have to conform to their way of doing things. I've obviously made a conscious decision to type it that way & until someone gives me a logical reason why I shouldn't I'll continue to do so. However, I'm fascinated at just how outspoken people are on the subject of shorthand typing so please feel free to continue.

The problem is that you use it in a pretty useless fashion. Firstly, it's the only abbreviation (aside from common contractions) you make in any post. You maintain all other standard spelling and gramatical forms except for abbreviating those two words. What benefit is gained? You aren't under any spacial or character constraints that require you to shorten a four letter word to two characters or a seven letter word to three characters, and data transfer constraints aren't so stringent that saving a couple of bytes would become beneficial. Even if you were under time constraints that required you to abbreviate a word in a non-standard way any benefit would be made inconsequential as you're still using proper spelling and grammar in all other instances of your posts. If you're trying to save time, why not try to save as much time as possible?

Where you don't understand why we get annoyed by it we also don't understand why you use it.

Remember when QFT was censored? People still used it, just without the contraction. We seem to be a very grammar concious community.

QFT was censored because people would quote something, slap QFT on the end, and that would be their entire post.

The attempt at micromanaging nazism failed. We all just started saying 'this' instead of QFT.
