Not to mention with modern hardware, ripping and transcoding a DVD to something like DIVX or h.264 still takes less time than real-time.

you only have a point if you go OUTSIDE THE CONTEXT OF THIS PARTICULAR DISCUSSION OF DVD RIPPING

You know what this is called? Anecdotal evidence. It's basically worthless.

Two out of millions is completely meaningless.

You could say the same thing about anything you buy. Chances are, if you get food poisoning at a restaurant, or buy a vehicle of a certain make, and they turn out bad for you. You won't buy them again. Does that mean they make bad stuff? No... but you didn't get a good one.

Calling it 'worthless' doesn't mean it's not true.

Er, yes it does. If you say "I'm never going to by XX brand again because I had two XX fail on me" even though XX has a lower failure rate than all other brands, you are more likely to get a good product by buying XX once again.

I loved Netflix when I had it.

I'd rent obscure movies that I would never be able to see otherwise.

And, of course, I'd burn every DVD that came into my mailbox. So not only do I get a cheap rental, I get movies to add to my DVD collection. IMO, if you're gonna pirate, pirate using Netflix, not downloading. Higher quality and bonus content.

I'm w/ you on obscure movies. My wife & I also tend to watch a ton of classics & foreign films & Netflix is great for that.
? :)

I've only ever had one problem with Netflix. When I watched The Taming Of The Shrew, every time it adjusted the quality up to HD, the sound would drop out. Hadn't seen it before, haven't seen it since.

(Streaming via xbox, not physical DVD)
