Ok so I have checked everywhere and I can't find out if this is possible or not..First I am fully aware that this is a question that can be asked without posting here and with about 5 minutes of work, however I am currently visiting my parents and have to shuffle a bunch of crap around so I would prefer to not do so if this ends up not being possible.
Now that the disclaimer is over, I have one of the possibly simplest questions regarding networking wirelessly that there should be...
Currently, I do not have a wireless card in my computer, however I do have a fairly long enough Ethernet cable. Two computers at my parents place are hooked up to the internet via wireless connections... But my problem is that A) I do not own a wireless card in my curent computer and B) their modem is extremely far from the nearest desk, which is unfortunately longer than my ethernet cable.
So here is my rather silly question...
If I were to hook up my non-wireless network carded PC (mine) via my ethernet cable to one of my parents PC's (a laptop for example) that is hooked up wirelessly to the internet, will I be able to access the internet on my PC this way? Or would this not work?
To clarify, I would have my own owned PC hooked up via an extra long ethernet cable, connected into the network card's extra port on the laptop PC that is set up for a wireless connection. Just in case.
yes? no? maybe so? alternatives?
I cant get a wireless card so unless this will work I am SOL until I can pull everything together to a wired connection.
