More children die in pools than from guns.

Are you saying you would use your pool on your children?

Seriously though, comparing pool and gun fatalities is pointless, for one thing it's a lot easier for a kid to get access to a pool.

Yeah but you don't have to pick up a pool to use it. In fact, you have to drop something else into it. The forces of nature, readLgravity, are encouraging the use of pools on children.

IT MUST BE STOPPED

You can't participate, it takes a parent to know what it is like to drown/shoot a child.

Here's my argument of why guns are safer than pools:

The contents of a gun going speed X (where X is the typical speed of a bullet that has been shot) are probably less damaging than the contents of a pool going speed X because the contents of a pool covers more area (unless dispersed in raindrop-like size).

No, it's not pointless. There are far more guns in America than swimming pools. Yet more children die in pools. Why? Because parents freak out about guns, but rarely teach proper pool safety.
2010-08-03, 2:13 PM #26
Yes, pools should be made safe and students should be taught safety... It still seems rather pointless that you'd respond to the poll with a pool statement though

You could jump in the pool to avoid the gunfire! mythbusters prooved bullets don't work well through only a few feet of water.

I am officially declaring swimming pools illegal. Anyone caught in or around a swimming pool will be subject to heavy fines and/or time in prison. All owners of swimming pools must drain and fill the pool with soil so that it is level with the ground. Any property owner refusing to comply will have the property confiscated and the owner subject to no less than five (5) years time in prison. The property will then be auctioned off.

Thank you for your cooperation.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Hold on, ou want to let people conceal pools in their back yards under dirt? Could you feel safe knowing your neighbor might be packing a pool under his patio? What if he dug it up and filled it with water and pushed your kid in? At the very least I think you should have to have a license to conceal a pool.

Do we have the right to bear pools? That is, can I, for example, carry a small inflatable swimming pool either in a bag or perhaps wrapped around my body under a jacket?
