Americans don't know, or they don't care. Then again, they shouldn't necessarily. I mean, even if we're talking cars only (not trucks, or anything else) then on styling alone most americans have a legitimate basis to prefer american vehicles. Case in point: this thread's american cars are badass, and the european cars look like goofy flying saucers and animal penises.

Most American cars are pretty horrid... Ford's been doing a pretty good job recently. Also, it's too bad the Vipers been killed off

European cars are outrageously expensive, particularly in the US.

Arguments about cars each individual dreams of owning in terms of age/looks is pointless. A lot of people on this board are 21+, which makes the cars they admired growing up range from the early 70s to the late 80s. That would include makes/models from 1965 to 198x... Lots of cars to cover there.

This thread might make more sense if it were Cars you'd like to own, that you can actually afford.

No, it really isn't. Ford's new commercial pronounces it that way, but it's ALWAYS been S.H.O. Lazy people say "show".

Pop culture. I did the same thing when I saw the commercial. A few months back I commented on a Taurus SHO that I saw and the guy I was talking to said "show". I was like, what?

Fiberglass, and yeah. What's wrong with plastic cars?

CB antennas with a magnetic base don't stick so well.

You only have to worry about that on pontiacs and buicks.

Three main problems I've encountered with my fiberglass:

1) Repainting. You can't sandblast it because you'll grind off the protective gel coat and be left with bare fibers. Hand sanding is difficult for the same reason, and who wants to sand down a whole car by hand anyway? Sodablasting or a a long sanding board are the only good options.
2) It's often one piece. You can't buy a new quarter-panel, you have to buy a new front end.
3) Large cracks or holes are difficult to repair. You can't just bondo it or pop out a dent. It's like repairing a hole in drywall. The bigger the hole, the harder it is. See advantage 4 below.

These three problems can be solved by not being an idiot. It's not really a big deal.

Benefits include:

1) It's light as hell. Hardly weighs anything.
2) No rust. Ever.
3) Heat barrier. There's a reason they use fiberglass for home insulation.
4) Cracks or holes are able to be repaired. Fiberglass can almost always be repaired, if you are willing to take the time to layer it up again. It's just glass fabric and resin; you can built it up again fairly easily.

Its all about that Sting=Ray. I almost got a stickshift one for 8 grand, a 76. But the deal fell through. So i got a ford explorer instead. Still its a v8 5.0 and i got AWD. SO its still fast, and can hop curbs!
