Sorry to dredge this up, but I emailed a link to the song to a friend that was a sound engineer in Fort Lauderdale and he said he thought it was bogus.
He said if it was actually slowed down 8X, then that means the frequencies would also be reduced 8X (eg, 16k frequencies would be around 2k), and there is a surprising amount of high-end on the "slow" track, although there shouldn't be. Also, a lot of the attacks were reverse-faded, not to mention the abundance of reverb. That said, I guess that could have all been done after slowing it down.
But anyway, I sped it up 8x and it sounded odd.
What do you guys think? Did you try to get it back to normal speed?
