On the third anniversary of my 18th year I bring to you the celebration of my 21st year! If my military career was a person, it could legally drink today. Oddly enough I've been commemorating that aspect of my service by drinking for about the last 21 years but that is another story. So, I have been on terminal (retirement) leave for about the past two months and I have about two more months to go before I am officially retired from the service.

This day was also marked by my son's first day of pre-school. Certainly a way of never forgetting this day. Now that my boy is starting school, I will have time during the day to get stuff done around the house. Some of the stuff to get done will include looking for employment. My current "plan" is to put some money in the bank before hitting college full-time. Doing so will protect me from having to experience "unfunded" emergencies while I am in school. If all goes well I will start school next year but if I'm happily employed I may postpone that for a time simply to bank more money. Alternatively, I could try to draw "my" share of 99 weeks of unemployment. I'm really just open to checking out all my options at this point. ;)

Good stuff, Wook! Congrats on your retirement/son's entry into school. You have any specific plans for employment, before college?

And, while not immediately relevant, I feel the need to share this classic Marine folk song.

It could be, though, that within two clicks of that video I arrived at:

That makes me so happy man...

So what are your immediate plans now that you are more or less separated? Gonna get blazed out of your mind? Or move to Barbados or something?

Thanks guys. No immediate plans. I was going to spend the next month or so doing home improvement projects but I just had to put a new roof on one of my houses so I'm going to have to sit down and see what my finances look like for next month. I may pick up an evening job in the short term. Try to read more. Definitely listen to more talk radio. I skipped some of the various employment workshops the Army offers because they interfered with my college classes at the time so I'm going to check out those schedules and attend some of those. Even though I want to stay away from government employment, I may look into that in the short term as well, just to get some more money in the bank account. I've been thinking about a degree in Architectural Landscaping but I may change my mind.

Hey Congratulations Wook You see it does pay off to go full career in the military, especially as an Officer, I sure wish the hell that I would of stayed in.

(U.S.Army/3rd Armored Division/2n Battalion 5th Regiment ADA/ West Germany 1986-1990)

I would of retired as of 2006 or sooner and Im still young enough to do active things in my life, but anyway good luck on the schooling and your future.
