I'm giving serious consideration to getting a tattoo, finally. I haven't really been passionate enough about any one thing to get it permanently marked on my body, but I think I've found that thing, and that's longboarding (skating, not surfing).

My only idea was to have the outline of my first board tattooed up my left side, from my hip to under my arm. That way I can make it nice and big, and get some good detail in on the trucks and wheels. The only problem is that I might regret that later as I get more and more into longboarding, so the shape of the board is up in the air. It'll definitely be drop-through, though. I adore that shape.

That's what it would look like, except it would just be the outline.

But I would also like your input. I'm not final on what I want the tattoo to look like. For sure, it won't have obvious board brand name advertising in it, it'll be nameless. What I really want to convey is the thrill that comes from defying certain laws of nature by flying along hard, unforgiving pavement on a simple plank of wood. I want to capture that 'higher than life' feeling somehow. Help? :)
DO NOT WANT.

Up in the air? It looks like upside-down.

I'll just say this: be prepared for it to hurt like hell, more than likely. Any area that has bone more expose (ribs, for example) are more painful to get tattooed. That said, though, enjoy the experience.

Emphasis mine.

My only comment is if you only THINK you found that something, maybe get a smaller tattoo, or not one at all.

If that's just your way of saying "I'm definitely getting a big tattoo" then cool. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer tattoos with lots of contrast and few if any colours (which fade over time).

Well, the whole point of tattoos is to express your personality in a cool, eye-catching way. A family friend and self-proclaimed big sister of mine visited for a week earlier, and she had a really neat phoenix tattoo going up and down her side. That was what made me realize that side tattoos are totally badass. Obviously a phoenix isn't what I want, though.

And yes, I am far more interested in longboarding than any other thing I've done in my life or any other phase I've gone through. I've also picked it up a lot faster than anything else I've done. So I definitely want this tattooed on my body, haha. It symbolizes exactly how I want to live my life.

@Echoman: Just in case you aren't being a silly punster, I meant the shape of the deck of the longboard is still being decided upon. I would definitely go for drop-through, though (with the trucks mounted on the top of the board and the cutaways around the wheels). ;)

@Zecks: My hobby is standing on a wooden plank hurtling along concrete. I'm okay with it hurting.
DO NOT WANT.

I want a proper, traditional bright yellow smiley face on one arse cheek.

Maybe I'll get drunk enough to get it one day.

I have the same though.

I also want to get a one way road sign on the other cheek.

A friend of mine told me that his uncle got a heart tattooed on his ass, one half on each cheek, which his name in one half and his ex-wife's on the other. Because of "all the **** that came between them" :XD:
