Looking for a new LCD

Take a look at the newer Dell line that replaced the 2007FP. Dell sells refurbished units themselves, actually.

I just did a check here at work if our monitors had backlight bleed and indeed mine does, but my co-worker's (which is the same type as me) doesn't.

So I'm going to see if future shop will trade it in for another one so I can test it.

Well they agreed to give me another BX2450 so I can try it out. I'll see at noon how it turns out. I hope its good, because I really loved this monitor's sharp image and colors.

The 2009Ws? Ugh, I have those at work and they drive me nuts.

Its a damned shame, but I'm crossing samsung off the list for now. The second BX2450 had the same issues. I can't believe anyone would find that acceptable. Its like you've got spotlights pointed at the top and bottoms of the screen.

So I just played with my brand new VP2365wb IPS monitor from Viewsonic, and here are my first impressions. I heard it was a dim monitor, and I must say they're right... it's not unbearable, but it's a noticeable difference from my last Viewsonic TN panel. I love the widescreen upgrade though... that alone was worth the cash.

As for the IPS thing, it is certainly noticeable when viewing from angles. Since I need accurate color reproduction, I think it will be a worthy investment. I think that a decent quality TN panel can perfectly serve 95% of PC users out there, including hardcore gamers. The response time (i.e. ghosting) is a bit noticeable but it doesn't bother me at all. My last monitor was 2ms and this one is 14ms... a supposedly big margin, but it honestly isn't that drastic. Overall it's a beautiful monitor... I love it already. I just can't imagine a non-graphics designer or color corrector buying this thing and finding it worth the premium dollar.

Spent some time last night looking at reviews. Here are a few stand outs (some IPS, others not)

On a related note, have any of you bought stuff off craigslist? I found a reasonable deal with an offer to test before I pay, but I'd rather not invite someone I dont know into my house.
