File copy bit by bit

I hate to be a pain and ask this kind of question, but is there such thing as a bit by bit file copying program? I have a large volume of data I need to get off a failing hard drive and over the years there has been some data corruption in previous copies from drive to drive in Windows.

What do you think Windows does when it copies files? If the result is corrupted it's because the source is corrupted.

Well I can guarantee you that was not the case in the last copy I made on multiple pieces of data. Maybe it has something to do with the failing hard drive? The damn thing shuts down mid-session at least once a day :(

If there is no such program, that simple answer would suffice.

Nah, here at Massassi we need to rub your fail in.

AnyReader might work... it's meant to pull data from damaged drives and discs

but it's not free and the trial has a pretty small limit on how much data it will copy

There are various data recovery tools out there, you could look around for those.

Try the freezer trick.
