Acoustic Music

People often times scoff at Acoustic music. Some see it as a lesser cheaper way for producing the same thing over again. Other see it as an entirely new genre. I have always been a fan. I often times enjoyed it when musical groups banded togather with a cople of steel-strings and hack it out. And yes, i enjoy classical guitar!! ~gasp~ The nylon string is the way to go for me but I wasnt sure about the rest of the world. SO....

Im on youtube and i've made a video ( a very ****ty video that I just threw togather for visual entertainment not that it provides much) of my own acoustic jam. I just improved a rythim part, then after playing for awhile I went back and layed down 2 diffrent solo tracks. I mixed them accourdingly and BAM, a song is created. At the end there is this sort of silence, then it goes into another compleatly spontanious jam of my own that happened to be in the same key, so I added it almost like a hidden track, for those still listening.

I want you Massassi to tell me what you think about it. Now i know that some of you will not have the time nor the patience to give it a full listen through, im just asking that you check it out and give me some feedback. Ive got my youtube account so if you do like it, tell me. I have more music on the way soon. Next upload is going to be a Jim Morrison Blue's Cover.

I really hope you enjoy it, I try and write just plain old good music, so that no matter the genre you like, you still can enjoy this. Thanks.

Well, you can see that more often than not, Acoustic is used as the pop stars way of selling the same song twice. This is considered by many to be little more than half-assed effort to produce something to sell to the public.

As far as Acoustic as a genre, its pretty much what it says. Its music based on the idea of a cople of peple (or just 1 perons) getting togather with nothing but pure music. I know alot of guitarists that hide behind there mesa boogie head or there boss pedal board. This is pure and simply music. I do not believe that music comes in a more purified form.

^^ Ohh, and Slayer is just around the cornor "Brah!" Righ after I finish the Dr. Dre Acoustic^^

To me, songwriting is always the forefront of a song I like. Sometimes I like acoustic covers not because of the instruments, but usually acoustic renditions give the song a more folksy or mellow tone, which I like. Case in point is Against Me!, who makes hard hitting punk rock. I like it when they play loud and hard, but their Acoustic EP (covers of their electric songs) is their best IMO.

I agree - acoustic isn't a genre.

You need some reverb and you're not in tune.

And Russ Freeman totally kicks arse with acoustic, classical, and electric guitars. Look him up. I think you might like it.

Yah, it was kinda spontanious jam, so its not tuned that great. I tune with a paino and by ear most of the time though because I need very precice tone because I play ALOT of Chords.

Im putting up a Wish you were here cover tonigt or tomorrow, maby that will be more pleasing to people.

Reminds me vaguely of this guy:

That's a compliment. Andy McKee is the man. Don Ross is better, but regardless both are amazingly talented musicians.

I agree that acoustic isn't a genre.

It seems to me that "acoustic covers of pop songs" is fairly well-defined as a genre. If someone wants to refer to that genre as "acoustic music," who's to say they can't?

bonus points if you do an acoustic cover of a black metal song

Honestly, if there is anyone else here who would appreciate it, I would cover DarkThrone's transilvanian hunger, or Burzum's dunkelheit. I'd even cover a Xasthur song if anyone knew it.

Do you yourself (DrkJedi82) actualy like/know any black metal, or is it simply a joke. In either case, like I said, if Massissa finds it amusing, I will surely do it!

I used to be a huge Black Metal fan when I was younger. Thats till i realized that the whole genre is a monsterous parody unto itself. Its a pretty big pose is all. Sadly alot of pepple are still dialed into that. I dont know, maby its just me, but it seems super lame and super forced after awhile. Yet, I confess, that I will from time to time throw in a burzum album.

nah some bands have no problem with sunlight... look at immortal... they did a famously silly music video of them frolicking through the forest in broad daylight

The fact that vamps are into attractive female necks tells me they're straight.

I thought it was pretty much universal canon that vampires are completely bi.

In the Anne Rice world, they pretty much transcend sexual categorizations, I think.

The vampire community realized that it's not the 16th century anymore so they've begun to accept diversity in the sexuality of bloodsuckers.
