So i flip on my phone to check an address on google maps and then i open the browser. Out of nowhere the browser starts playing a 30 second audio clip of rap. I have no reason to have this playing and my guess is malicious peeps in mai apps. Wierd. ****.

Android Eris for the curious. Time to go see if it lasts through a reboot

Google Maps made me waste an hour on the wrong bus route once. For some reason it has 2 addresses for the same building.
Oh well.

I have gotten more mobile virus' than I've ever had on my computer. I don't understand where they come from considering I only have big important official apps and I rarely web surf.

Seriously? I've never had a mobile virus. I didn't realize they were becoming common.

I don't care for google maps, they screwed up a bunch of roads around here.... when I worked for CVS Corporate they had their call center listed on Douglas pike south but it was on Douglas pike north... almost made me late for my interview :carl:

You would manage to get viruses on something that seriously doesn't have viruses.

The virus I got was from not updating the Facebook app. A cookie from a random website was able to log into my Facebook and fish. It could have originated on my PC, but all of the phishing links were posted from "my mobile." Even after changing passwords, it was able to remain logged in through my phone number and also changed my password several times when I was logged out on my PC.

Also, years ago I got a garbled text message on my really old mobile phone with an attachment that I opened and it ended up bricking, and the Cellone people told me it was some kind of an attack text.

That's not a virus, that's cross-site scripting...

I just directly use addresses now, 8205 90 NW instead of Meto, etc.

Maybe either

A: it was the last web page you were on and you simply forgot

B: you let someone use your phone and it was the last web page they were on

Speaking of Google Maps, there was this one time I was trying to navigate to a particular store in downtown Helsinki. I go to where it says the store is, and in real life that exact spot did have a shop, it was surrounded by a corner and a movie theater so I figured that must be it, plus the signs on the window/door were kinda vague so I couldn't immediately tell what the name of that shop was. So I went in - coincidentally they were the same type of shop that I was looking for but with a different kind of selection - looked around for a bit and said something like "Excuse me, but am I in [name of store I wanted to go to]?" so the cashier looked confused, displayed a "WTF are you for real" sort of smile and said no, I explained that my GPS lied to me and she directed me to the nearest [name of chain whose store I was looking for].
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Sounds like some advertisement on a web page. Anything else really wouldn't make sense.

i really have no clue, it was like a 30 second crappy ringtone of what sounded like 'pick up the phone' or 'put down that phone' but rap so i didn't understand all of it...

Google buy their map data from federal organizations like PSMA(au), USGS(us) and Royal Ordnance(uk), address errors usually come through from the source data.

I've never had viruses on my G1.
