I'm organizing some friends to go out to D.C. for a day, tour, and then go to the rally on the 30th. Anyone else going?

I'm afraid that I can't make it because I'm hosting a Halloween costume party on the same night since Halloween actually falls on a Sunday this year. It does sound like it would be good times though. It's a shame that he's holding it so close to a holiday.

You mean the Colbert/Stewart rally for truthiness?
2010-09-19, 10:18 AM #5
Indeed. And for keeping fear alive.

You're just jealous that no one ever considered Finland important enough to build a National Mall. :colbert:

Plus, you don't even have geese to show that God blesses your rally!

I might try to go to this! I'll have to see if any of my other local friends are going, though, as well as how up to it I feel, since I may still be experiencing mad jet lag from returning from Australia.

I love in Southern California. Other than alaska and hawaii, it's about as far as you can get from D.C. I'm also unemployed and can't afford to make the trip. I'm very interested in seeing the rally(ies) though.

I live and DC and work a half mile from the mall, so yes, I'll be there.

I would have loved to have gone to the 8/28 rally but this 10/30 rally just seems silly. But of course, that's the point. I will be scary if this gets anything near close to the number of people that Beck got. I'm sure it will be pretty funny, though, so I can't blame anybody for wanting to go, especially if they live there.

Yeah, a certain segment of the population will always find anything silly. It's just kind of telling to see the people that found the positive messages of the 8/28 rally to be silly.

The exact same could be said of the people who find the 10/30 rally to be silly.

Indeed. That nut job has quite a herd.

Except the Beck rally was totally apolitical with themes that pretty much everyone can appreciate except the radically anti-religious.

Yeah, but this one is being organized by comedians to mock legitimate rallies. Seems that it's designed to be silly just like their parodies of the news are.

I'm thinking about it. I'd have to fly in from Seattle and take a few days off of work. My friend is making the trip and I'm really considering it...

Stewart/Colbert are amazing, the only TV news I watch is them.

Really it doesn't, because tv news is garbage.

At least it's news, though. But I see your point. At least with Fox News there is a good alternative now to the more traditional sources that used to dominate.

Pretty much all tv news is horrible, and Fox News is the worst of them all. Haven't we been over this before?

Hey, if you are getting your news from a place that makes money based on how many people get their news there, your news is going to suck. If you get your news from a place that makes money regardless of the quality of quantity of actual news presented, it will suck. If you get your news from a place that doesn't make money, it will suck.

I just hope God blesses this rally, too, with a completely ordinary flock of non-symbolic birds.

I could never stand Leno or Conan. I don't think either of them are the slightest bit funny.
Leno is simply boring but Conan is teeth-grindingly annoying.
