super-awesome secret project!
2010-10-11, 1:15 PM #1
OK, so it's probably not so terribly secret for anyone who has actually talked to me, but whatever. Point is, I'll be hitting up everyone who's made even one story post on the NeS prior to Nov. 1st, 2010. So if you're not on this list, and want the chance to be involved in the project, better make a story post now!

These are the people I'll be trying to hit up in November (and how many posts they made with some repeats because I'm lazy, so some of those 1s and even 2s might actually be excluded, as well as even a few not here that need to be included) :

EDIT: See CoolMatty's post below for the list.

I removed all exact duplicates and merged their post counts (wasn't sure on a couple so I left them), and then sorted highest to lowest.

Thanks, CM! I'll still have to go through and figure out if any of them just posted non-story only posts (not terribly concerned about that) as well as add any from NeShattered that got lost as I've been merging the posts. But that's pretty much the list, so if you see your name on there, it's a good chance I'll try to hit you up (or at least post about it on Massassi later with you in mind).

I'm 95% sure anything I posted on an NeS thread would have been juvenile noncontributory bs from when I was young and annoying (no jokes dammit). So, if this only refers to NeS then you can safely remove me.

The motive is stacked against your favor. It's mostly a means of me trying to rope in some story-posts with blind curiosity and also give as fair an opportunity for my arbitrary cut-off selection concerning my project as I can.

It is not, however, my attempt to publish the NeS itself. Perhaps I'll see about trying it one day, but not now.

Does this mean that if I go post in the NeS now, you're gonna visit Helsinki, Finland?
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I'm afraid not, Kroko. I've been visiting the people I have for a little more than just this project, though it is a motivating factor. Were I rich, I'd love to meet lots of people, though!

And Kirby, quantity may not equal quality, but quantity is needed to keep the story's pulse beating. The right diet won't help much if you don't eat enough.

I have always wanted to collaborate on a project with Pugler, who I note is also listed. I've also wanted the project to involve Pugler's face, and be stapler-related.

Sorry to disappoint, but even if Puglar was around, it's doubtful I would aim to get him specifically involved. :P

Well, I'm out.

probably not, i'm still a sucker for an NES-related project, as long as i can contribute a small bit and then disappear as is my custom

You'll probably prefer stage 2 of my plan, then, as I imagine many others will be as well. Essentially, far less work but also far less ownership. This is assuming I can get this project past stage 1, of course.

I had a blog. It sucked.

sorry for sounding dumb, but can someone explain all of this to me
2010-11-07, 8:06 AM #30
To all the past and present NeS writers:

First off, If there is someone you know who should see this but otherwise won't be able to, please send this message to them.

With that said, I'll try to keep this short.

After over 11 years, I'm finally aiming to kick off on writing a novel in the spirit of the NeS. I currently have a third of the first draft done, and I'm looking for at least two co-writers to help complete it. If you've written for the NeS, however small, I'm asking you to consider co-writing for this novel. The process will be hard, but the product will be worth it.

What I am requiring: people who will actually write diligently, enthusiasm, and effort in spirit.

What I am NOT requiring: "enough" understanding of the NeS, writing skill "worth publishing," or seriously, the two things I just said.

If you have ANY interest, please contact me and I will go over details and confirm your entry, as it were, before sending you the draft. This will essentially be a first-come, first-serve basis; the first two people to send me their contributions will likely be the co-writers for this novel. Otherwise, it will be forever before I get the "perfect drafts" from the "perfect writers" for this project. I will decide on a case-by-case basis if there actually happens to be an overwhelming number wishing to be co-writers.

If you do not become a co-writer but still have a great interest, don't fret! There's a good chance you may still be able to help out yet in editing or other related projects, such as building a wiki, a game, a comic, some music, and so on! And, of course, the best way to always help regardless is to write for the Never-ending Story Thread itself!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Long live the NeS!

(Now to try and PM some of those on the list I'm pretty sure I haven't already e-mailed or the like...oy.)

Fair enough. I expect a lot of people I've hit up will not have the time for this, but I'm trying to offer it to everyone all the same.

CM: If there's an easy way to send this message via the e-mails the members have provided in one mass swoop on your end, I'd much appreciate it. Otherwise, I think I've hit just about everyone up via PMs, Facebook and the e-mails I already had saved (a lot of which were defunct).

CM: It's cool. Just figured I'd make sure, is all. Still feel a little bad about not hitting up all those 1-posters via PM and everyone in general via the e-mail provided in their account, but I think it's fair to say I've made a reasonable effort to reach out to everyone.
