So, this week I decided that I didn't want to ride my bike anymore and developed some road rash which led to scabbing.

what do you do?

If it's bad enough I'll take care of it properly, otherwise I end up picking at it.

To properly care for it: coat the scabs in vaseline and cover with a bandage. Change the bandage one or twice a day. Contrary to popular belief it won't heal faster when exposed to oxygen. You also don't need neosporin. The reason neosporin helps wounds heal faster is because it's made almost entirely of petroleum jelly (vaseline!) and keeps oxygen out. There's no miracle ingredient. Neosporin is just to help infection because it has antibiotics. Keep it clean and you don't need it.
