Soooo I managed to pick up the Cycbot.B virus while browsing google images [loolo go me]

After a few MSE scans I managed to get rid of it, or at least I thought I did. As of this morning I can only access https:, irc, and AIM on my desktop.

I've run MSE in safe mode to try to find any remnants of the virus to no avail.

Im fairly certain its gone but it just changed a setting before I got it removed. Any advice?

Hosts file looks normal enough to me. Hijackthis was saying it couldnt access the file for some reason, but im assuming thats because of privileges.

If it's not too much effort to do backups, just format the machine. I got a bug a few weeks ago and even after running MSE/Symantec to clean/quarantine it, there were still residual effects.

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Reboot in SafeMode. Run SpyBot Search and Destroy as well as your antivirus under the same profile you generally use, but in SafeMode(with networking). Should clear it up.

Did the safe mode thing. Turns out there was a proxy setting that was still attempting to go to a local proxy setting.
