Giants leading the best of 7 series 2 games to 1, game 4 is currently underway, 2-0 Giants in the 7th inning. It's been one hell of a baseball post season so far with the big names knocked out and the underdogs playing each other for the title. Who's been following this?

I've been watching the past few nights. I really don't care this year now that the Twins are out and the Yankees lost.

I guess i'm only rooting for Texas because of the connection to the Twins with both teams based off the Washinton Senators...

None the less, I'm sad that the season is almost completely over until March which can't come soon enough.

I went to high school with Texas Rangers pitcher Dustin Nippert. He was a total jerkoff, but he's a quality pitcher.

Game over, Giants win. Giants are 1 win away from their first world championship since 1954 and have 3 chances to do it.

I'd like the Rangers to come back and win, purely because I'd like to be around happy people for about a week rather than sad people.

Well, so much for that. Now I get to put up with moping for the rest of the week.

Avenger amongst a very select few Giants fans are actually alright. The rest, insufferable.

I'm sorry, the Padres are part of the same division as the Giants so I'm kind of angry. We almost sent them packing in the 162nd game. God. ****ing Giants. :argh:

Woooooooooo my whole family cried tonight Giants fans going back decades we've been waiting our whole lives for this. I actually feared I may die before I got to see this. I can't explain how I feel right now. Still can't believe it.

Dash, the Padres are going to win the World Series in 2088 when I'm 107. So yes, I understand your feeling.

Due to the Yankees failing to make it, my interest level strongly decreased and my annoyance level strongly increased, since now I want this damned thing over so that my Fox shows will come back on.

This is why everybody but Yankee fans absolutely HATE Yankee fans.

Well, now that this little thing is over the Yanks can go sign Cliff Lee and get #28 next year. Let's get the next season started now!

As much as I hate to say it, you're right. Cliff Lee might as well sign the lease on a condo in Manhattan right now.

EDIT: But he'll never be as good as he was at Cleveland a few years ago. What was his ERA that year? 0.2?

Cliff Lee is over rated. 0-2 with one pitiful and one better, but still losing performance in the World Series? Way to show up. This is what separates the boys from the men, where legends are born. I don't care what he did the regular season. Giants' young pitching showed him up in every way.
2010-11-02, 12:41 PM #19
Yes, dozens of games are overshadowed by 2 games. Lee obviously sucks because he had a few bad days.

It was the Rangers' inability to hit and less than stellar bullpen that cost them the world series, not starting pitching. Also Washington got outmanaged. Cliff Lee is one of the best pitchers in the game. I mean, who would you rather take over him? CC? Halladay?

Inability to hit? They have plenty ability. They had just scored 38 runs beating the Yankees in 6 games. Their whole lineup suddenly going cold at once was no coincidence. Good pitching beats good hitting and this was just proven to the world. They only scored 12 runs against the Giants in 5 games. And yes, their starting pitching totally crapped the bed. You can't blame a bullpen and NOT blame starting pitching because if the starting pitching does it's job you need very little, if any bullpen at all.

I'd take Lincecum, Cain, and Bumgarner who went a combined 4-0 against the Rangers giving up 5 runs total in those 4 games over any of those guys you listed. The Rangers, who have a solid lineup, got absolutely carved up and having watched these guys mature over the last few years it was no fluke.

If you don't think Cliff Lee is one of the best pitchers in baseball, you're an idiot.

You seem to have forgotten his dominant performances in the 09 Series where he kicked the snot out of the Yankees. Beating the Rays and Yanks like he did is impressive, and he did not have a bad start at all in Game 5 this Series. Going into the WS this year, I believe his ERA was .98. If you don't find that impressive, well then you just can't be helped.
