So, let me state that I am in no way one of the many "micro$oft" haters. I generally like their products and services.

But, goddamn, I'm logging into xbox.com, pages load slow as hell, can't tell if it's ever going to update my credit card information, etc. Xbox.com is seriously the worst experience I have online. Maybe I'll try through the console or something.

How about you see if it is something on your end first, or if it is just a period of high traffic at the website before saying there is something bad about the website.

xbox.com has sluggish periods all the time. I don't know why.

It couldn't possibly have to do with the major Fall update that was just released TODAY. Naw, that'd be too sensible.

Anyone like the new GUI for Xbox Live? I don't like it... too flat.

Well, that could explain today and all of the previous days over the past week that I've been trying to access the site on a PC. Now that you mention it, it is true that I had no problem stealing Fable 2 when they accidentally gave it away for free. Pretty freaking ironic.

That's not irony.

Sorry, but you're not smart enough to join the Massassi Irony Police (MIP).

You don't have to be smart to understand the difference between irony and something that isn't even coincidental (which is usually mistaken for irony).

It would be ironic if the website was slow because they had accidentally given away Fable 3. I'm sorry that I have to explain this.

That website is ****ing awful. Trying to use it to cancel xbox live sent me in circles for so long I did it over the phone.

At least you don't have a Win7 phone, those guys got hooped.

Umm, how exactly did those guys "get hooped"?

The new site design is a bit better, but it's never been great. Then again, I almost never use it.

The new dashboard I actually really like. It's a lot less dark grey, which is always a nice change.

I use it to redeem codes (since it's a lot quicker to just copy & paste a code into the web site than it is to type it out on a crummy onscreen keyboard) and occasionally buy DLC/XBLA games ahead of time so they're ready to download the next time I turn the console on. That's about it.

Darth: Yeah, same. Also, protip: You can use a USB keyboard if you like on the 360.

I guess when I get a degree I will understand why it is not ironic that the site performed flawlessly when I logged in to "purchase" a game they were mistakenly giving away for free but god awful slow and buggy when I'm trying to ensure my credit card information is current to pay for content.

No, you probably wouldn't understand irony even then. Protip: Just because something is amusing doesn't mean it's ironic.
2010-11-02, 6:46 PM #21
Fine. Still, at least by the colloquial use of the word, it is acceptable to say that it is ironic that I have a problem using the site to pay for content and none when I use the site to acquire content that is not supposed to be free. I do admit, though, I knew the MIP would be all over my statement.

Now we have irony police just because you don't understand what irony is? That's like saying we have a Massassi Intellectual Elite because you say stupid things. Oh, wait.

Well, considering it fits a definition of irony, I would say that I understand what irony is. The website worked contrary to what was expected. I expected the website to function correctly when paying for content since it worked fine when not paying for content.

Only you didn't mention until just now that you were trying to get on the site to buy something. You've retconned yourself to make your statement make sense. How very republican of you.

Oops, sorry, I assumed you read the opening post. My bad. I was trying to update my credit card information.
