Yeah, I installed it as part of the last level contest and never removed it. I'm not sure if that counts as "still" but I voted Yes anyway.

Not since 2003. I don't have my discs anymore, either.
2010-11-08, 3:38 PM #6
I did until a couple of months ago.

yeah, the vornskrs and the mummy sith were pretty scary. (though i only ever played the mots single player once, right when the game came out.)
2010-11-08, 9:17 PM #13
Yes.
2010-11-08, 9:55 PM #14
Always, it only takes up 200 megs and I have it on steam.
2010-11-08, 10:18 PM #15
Not since 7ish years ago. Though I could find the discs in under 5 minutes, if needed.
2010-11-09, 1:57 AM #16
yeap.. and MotS and JO and JA
2010-11-09, 7:36 AM #17
No.

Ask me again in January.

No, and I think the discs are scratched to hell.

Hmm I still have my discs but I want it to be on steam. I obviously don't still have the case so how would I go about this?

What does the case have to do with it?

Isn't that where the cd key would be? I don't have it avaiable so I don't know how to tell steam that I have JK installed.

But either way I can't seem to get JK to work on my 64 bit Windows 7 machine. I did all the instructions here http://www.jkhub.net/library/index.php/Tutorials:Install_JK to install it and it still gives me the ERR_CANNOT_LOAD_FILE message.

All of the files aren't read only but the folders seem to be, and Windows 7 won't let me make them not read only

Sadly I lost the CDs years ago but I picked up the Dark Forces pack on Steam when it was on sale last Christmas. So yes, I have JK installed. And DF. And MoTS and JO and JA.
Stuff
2010-11-09, 10:12 AM #24
I installed it from steam, and considering the entire game is smaller than, well... most things today, there's really no reason to remove it.

You don't get music from the steam version!!!
2010-11-09, 11:41 AM #26
So use a CD image along with it, also good luck buying it somewhere.
E: JK doesn't have a CD key TSM.

Yeah I know, which sucks bad. But I lost my Disc 1 at some point, and disc two seems mostly useless.

Yeah I've just realized that there's no key.

But apparently JK just doesn't work on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine, so looks like no JK for me :(

I did, I did the steps at JKhub, still get that error message

I play MOTS sp levels to remember my childhood lol. There's something about the first Battle on the Outer Rim that is very nostalgic, especially the start. Sure it's blocky but that was the norm then.

I don't really play Jk. If I'm going to I guess I'd play the last two levels of my second Magrucko Daines project, because they're the best things I've ever made and it brings me immense joy.
Magrucko Daines and the Crypt of Crola (2007)
Magrucko Daines and the Dark Youth (2010)
Magrucko Daines and the Vertical City (2016)

I'm curious about this too. Is it possible to add JK to my Steam games if it doesn't have a key? I can add it as a non-Steam game.
2010-11-09, 8:00 PM #33
No, but as you said you can just add a shortcut to the games list.
2010-11-10, 3:19 AM #34
I bought it to play Goit's levels and marvel / repulse in fear at my terrible voice acting.

I never uninstalled it.

Soooo... yeah.

:psyduck:
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I bloody love your voices -Tony-. You've recorded so many voices over the years for me that never got released, thank god I finally released something you contributed to! Thanks again :)

My brother was playing JK over the summer, and he left my discs out. They got chewed up by the dog. Luckily I had already installed JK. Regardless, he bought me a new copy.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Anyone ever find a way to play the music in game w/o CD (nonsteam version)?
Several other 90s games exe have been 'tweaked' to allow it to play from a new 'music' folder containing the mp3s...

THAT would be the bees knees :psylon:

You can use a disc image that has the audio tracks

Not only do I always have the game installed, I've always got the CD in the drive.

Pm tibby or post in his thread that is now a sticky. He seems to be the resident expert on getting jk to run on modern systems.
